Game Title: Scorpion Squad, by walldeaf.

Synopsis: Shane Scorpion and his alluring robot sidekick take on the monsters plaguing a small island community.

Story: This is a fun and silly game, beautifully put together. Shane Scorpion is a bounty hunter who needs to solve various missions to rid the islands of monsters. It helps that he has a robot sidekick, Virasha, and there is a lot of trawling through pretty dungeons to be had. The dialogue sounds as if taken from an 80’s action film, so is full of charm and cliché. NPCs are there to provide only plot, so you will forget them pretty quickly.

Gameplay: An enjoyable game, and one that is suitable for a younger audience. The violence is cartoon-like and the difficulty is easy. The game can be beaten within an hour so is a great casual experience. The random encounters do become a bit tiresome after a while, but if you are there to grind through your levels, this is a welcome aspect.

Look and feel: The audio is ok, but the graphics are very well done: the maps feel busy and the dungeons do have interesting layouts – if a little too large. It is a shame there is not much incidental interaction with the wonderful maps, but that aside, it does add to the charm of the game.

Summary: This is not art, but it is a fine piece of fun, suitable for children and it does a lot to charm the pants off you, glossing over the fact that the plot and the gameplay are a little shallow. However, having seen this game, am now keen to try the author’s other games, which seem bigger and more indulgent.
As a taster walldeaf’s other work I would rate this as 3.5 / 5.0. It’s short and incredibly sweet, something to complete on your lunchbreak and tempt you into the other games on offer.
