This is why I can't plan for anything.

Funny story: I've been playing through Earthbound for the SNES for the first time. As a small joke, I decided to include a little side reference (Say: Fuzzy Pickles!). After that, I thought it would be fun if the guy who asked you to say that just happened to slightly resemble the random photographer that appeared out of nowhere, next thing you know; this random joke NPC turns into an important, playable character.
The events that transpired while in this town went under so many revisions (in my head), yet I changed it all at the last minute for the inclusion of this character, and after working out everything in my head it all fits together just fine.
Originally: before I started the game over - You were sent to this town after exiting that poorly done spectral pocket dimension from the end of the first demo. Too conveniently, it was Thanatos' home town, and there were some underlying events and character development for him to take place there. Well, after revising the plot so drastically; Thanatos no longer fit into the game as a playable character; so he was dropped. Instead, he would take on a different role. NOW thinking on it some more, I don't think there's a spot for him in the game at all, especially given what else happens in this particular section of the game; so I probably did all those sprites for him for no reason. Oh well.
As far as the demo that properly showcases the game; there's still a few things to do. The dungeon you see in the video is pretty much done; after that there's a few more bits of story development. Then on to the last dungeon of the demo.
So that's a fist full of scenes, 1.2 dungeons, and two more boss battles to make before I can finally release something.
As far as the new character is concerned, his mechanics are pretty straightforward; as you see in the video. He has access to a (growing) arsenal of traps. Each with a variety of powerful effects. The catch is that he has to take a single turn to set a trap before he can use the skills in the "Traps" command. His starting traps all come with high damage and a status affliction. The traps he engineers later will have other effects, such as dealing MP damage.
In those tight moments where you need quick damage, Alistar can use throwing items as a means to quick but low damage. These items can either be found or bought from weapon shops.

To be honest, I'm glad you got rid of Thanatos. I wasn't really feeling him as a character, and one of the things I loved most about the Demon Legacy cast was how 'rag-tag' they seemed - I mean really, they were such an odd group. Nero's fine, Lillith is - stretching it, but she's okay, and Thanatos just kind of seemed forced - the whole mad alchemist shut in whose reason for joining you I can't even remember to be honest (but it has been a while since I played the demo).
Anyway, As it was, I just couldn't imagine the three of them traveling together or having any particularly interesting scenes, and I certainly didn't see myself getting attached to Thanatos. Granted, this is just one huge first impression, so I may have been wrong, but that's neither here nor there now. I really hope this new character brings some charm to the group. I'm really liking his battle mechanics so far. The rest of what was in the video seems super polished and awesome though, absolutely can't wait for the demo, or at least some more frequent updates :)

Seriously, i have to say that. This game is the only reason i keep coming here so often. Since the announcement i started waiting for this. A lot of time has passed, but every time i see an update i got excited to play it :D The Demo was very nice and I keep looking for this game o//
Alistar's gameplay is epic, very well designed and made. Just hopes he get a little movement in the battle pose, but since it's just a video i'm assuming that this is not his final battle sprite, well if it is, this would be a suggestion ^^
Just for the record (yeah, i need to say that) you really got a fan, and DL is still my top game when i talk about RPGmaker *.* hopes this one get better than the previous!
Keep updating o/
