Working Titles and Progress:

Sorry for the switcheroo guys. I probably had some of you confused there, but that's what happens when you can't quite decide on a proper game title. ^^ Speaking of which, I have had least three in mind. While I liked the original title; Tristian: The Lady of the Lion, it conjures up thoughts that it is only centered on one main character, which this game is not. It probably might have worked in a visual novel sense if Tristian was the central focus though.

The second and current title; Eridanus: The First War sounds a mite cliched to me and I might change it again ( luckily, I still have my .PSD files for editing the title screens, I did that moon and clouds background in Photoshop as well ). It was named after the river Eridanus .It is a metaphor of sorts for the game as a whole, symbolising all the different factions in the game ( representing the little streams that eventually forms a river ) and forming a river which wounds its way into the ocean, which is a metaphor for the enormous Valthorme Empire.

The final title that I may be considering is simply called Beneath Azure Skies, which symbolises everything that happens on the continent of Eridanus ( and the colour scheme of the game is dark blue as well so... ). I actually took the name from my one of my favourite pieces of fan-fiction that was never finished.

And it sort of sounds like the title of fpr a classic JPRG too. ^^ One that will ( hopefully ) be fondly remembered. You know, titles like Forever's End and A Blurred Line. Or Star Stealing Prince or Love and War.

Those titles stick in your head. =)

On the progress side of things, I've managed to get a bunch of stuff done as usual. As a rule of thumb I'm setting for myself, each chapter will be around an hour in length, so I'm pretty close to finishing up Chapter Two before we get to meet the Large Ham Trabant ( but a BAMF in battle ). XD So yeah, I sort of want to speed things up so I can get to that part of the game, while keeping an eye on testing and balancing mechanics ( since that tends to be my weaker areas, with level design/mapping/visuals and audio being my strong suite ).

So, what do you guys think for the title? The first, second or the third one?

Darcy goes sneaking around in heavily guarded big manors for fun in Chapter Two.

Hmm... I wonder if I should do horror one day? Nope. Never mind. It's becoming such a common genre that the next RPGMaker should be called HorrorMaker 20XX.

If the story were centered around Tristian, I would wholeheartedly pick #1.
But since it's a multi-scenario game, I'm torn between 2 and 3 :(
I'm going to vote for Beneath Azure Skies.

Tough call. I suppose you should pick the title that best defines what the game is about, which in that case would be Eridanus: The First War. I don’t mind the third choice but it just doesn’t do it for me, IMO; it just sounds too corny. But even though that Tristian isn’t the main focus behind the story – I still like Tristan: The Lady Of The Lion because it sounds catchy, distinctive and, too bad that this wasn’t a strategy based RPG because that name would have perfect for it.

It’s really up to you, though. I still have a soft spot for Tristian: The Lady Of The Lion but you gotta choose the best title that suites the game, I guess. I guess another idea you could do is keep Tristian: The Lady Of The Lion and just rename the original Tristian character in the game and make the title standout almost via the Lufia series where Lufia is really only mentioned in the first game but they just kept the name for all the other entries because of how catchy it is.
I also really like Tristian: TLotL as a title. I think Eridanus: The First War actually sounds really uninteresting and generic. There are tons of games with 'wars' in them, but a "Lady of the Lion"? That'd instantly catch my eye and make me interested.

And yeah, just because Tristian isn't the focal point of the story doesn't mean the title should reflect that. Look at the Legend of Zelda-- Princess Zelda is in no way the central focus of those games yet the entire series is named after her for some reason.
Hmm... LotL or Beneath Azure Skies. The latter sounds more like a VN. Ah hell. I'll just change it back up to The Lady of the Lion, omitting Tristian's name. =)
