Demo up. And onto 2016.

Do I really need to make an announcement? Granted, this demo will go by unnoticed again ( like with the July release, though NTC3 was kind enough to provide a review that provided the groundwork for this new release ) and what with it being so close to the end of the year, but I figured I'd get it out of the way so I can get on with the full game. I will only start sending out the full game for testing in the 3rd quater of 2016, so bear with me until then.
Unless you'd like to come on board as a writer, then I can add you to the developer list. I do have someone in mind who is willing to look through the game script for the full release ( but I will just confirm this again through PM ).
The new demo, and changes from the July 2015 release includes:
- A moving, new soundtrack. You'll know I mean business with the title theme 'The Crusader'.
- Improved gameplay. Challenging, but fair. No button-mash fests.
- A complete plot overhaul and an improved script.
- More areas to explore, including a desert town and a harsh, dry valley.
- An extra hour of gameplay. Should take you just over 2 hours to clear, which I think is decent enough. Anything longer and it doesn't qualify as a demo, more like a Chapter release.

I'll be a tester this time >:)
What do you need as far as a Writer goes? You're already pretty competent at that, so do you just need a proofreader or grammar nazi or something?

Already playing the demo. a few things I could complain about, but overall, this is looking promising in my book. Yes, I still intend on testing if you still want me around to test basically.
Okay, I'm done. Although a number of the decisions made are a little far fetched, I can see what direction you want to go with this and I think it's going to rock >:) I can even overlook the yuri when it goes into full force.
You have a number of passability issues to iron out. I took screenshots of the really obstructive ones.
Look where I went :D
I really should be able to squeeze through that. Especially when the alternative is to walk all the way around those chairs.
What's blocking me in that blue circled area? All I see is a dirt patch.
Also, I circled those little rock "blocks" in your tileset's corner pieces. They just don't look right. Can you smoothen them out with a little grass?

-In that little side event with the cowering soldier in the tent, Tristian should never condone desertion. Even if she fundamentally agrees with his cause for fear, plus the dire war circumstances, leaders still can't go around saying "it's okay to run away".
-The case against Tristian for "abandoning" her soldiers is iffy. Hers, and all her men's, jobs are to protect the royal family at the expense of their own lives. She could have argued that it was more prudent for a lone super soldier, her, to stealthily escort Ianna safely away while her squad buys them time with their lives. This works both ways though, since you could later write that she did it partly out of her own fear. Whatever the case, it's expected in that era for an entire squad to be eradicated if it means saving one royal blood's life.
-After being accused of a crime, or dishonor at least, they just let her walk over to the Castle to be judged? There's even a port town to the south she could have used to bail with :)
-Kicking her out of the Order doesn't make any sense. Unemployed soldiers are where bandits come from. A demotion for sure, or maybe a suicide mission to "redeem" herself. But just "GTFO", especially during a losing war, never happens.
-And why did they let Ianna go away with the newly exiled Tristian? She's the only claim to power they've got.
If I could write the ending scenario differently, I would have them demote Tristian to private (or similar), then either send her to the equivalent of Siberia (a remote dump where dishonored soldiers are sent) or give her a mission where success is like 0.0001%. Ianna obviously doesn't like this, so before Tristian leaves, she somehow manages to persuade her to flee the country with her. Tristian would object, saying Ianna should stick with Bevidere and the army, but Ianna does something to convince her. It could just be her exercising her force of will for the first time in her life.
At that point, you could use the southern port town as a plot destination or even a dungeon, and then have them formally meet Trabant and use his ship to leave Genoa.
Nitpicks
-Ira's Right and Left sprite have a junk pixel in them.
-Why do the portraits momentarily disappear between each message? Can that be ironed out?
-Is the Metal Gorget supposed to be a Body Armor?
-After battles, can you put the different "Item Found" messages on separate lines? Just makes it more legible.
-Can you get rid of "Optimize" and "Aptitude"? Nobody ever uses them, and it's just more menu to navigate.
-Why am I still paralyzed after a battle? Is the status effect supposed to linger? That sucks.
-A place to heal in the Intro forest would've been nice. Like if we reused the campfire, or found a revisitable herb patch.
-"War Council" is the wrong term for what happened there. There wasn't any strategy discussed or anything. All they did was bully Tristian. Maybe Debriefing or even just Report would fit better.
-After a Game Over, and the demo's end, it crashed when it returned to the Title Screen.
-What are "Odds" in the character stats? :D
Don't forget to clean up that bridge before you close the file on that dungeon.

@Zieg: Yes, I still want you around as a tester for the full game. =)
@Sail: Let's hope I don't disappoint. I know how hard you are to please. XD
@Dy:
I appreciate your insight into this, Dy. You clearly have more experience than me writing stories set during political upheaval, and you do make some very clear points. =) Let's just say my decision to write the plot this way was to humanise Tristian. That and the fact that she is still quite young ( although at age 22 you were practically seen as an adult during this time ), I didn't want to portray her as some ruthless b**tch ( even though she is known to be cold, her heart isn't made of ice ) like so many generals/military leaders are portrayed.
Dare I say it that Tristian was only offered the rank because of her pedigree, rather than her experience of warfare?
While I understand it is normal for entire sqauds of soldiers to lose their lives while defending the crown, losing one's men still counts as blow. Tristian, young as she is, has never really fought in a full-blown war ( yes, there was the civil war before the game, and the one that got her into a lot of crap with Bedivere ). Hence his warning to her at Castle Avalon, and why she got booted out. I meant to cover this in the demo as well, but I figured it would be too much exposition, vital as it is. Let's just say she was on... final warning. So this is really a big deal for her. Had she been older, then maybe it would have been different. But in retrospect, it seems I left out an important plot point. ><
That's why I want you to come on board as a writer now. >:D I really like your ideas about the plot structure here.
Nitpicks
-Ira's Right and Left sprite have a junk pixel in them.
Me and my messy sprite work.
-Why do the portraits momentarily disappear between each message? Can that be ironed out?
I'll look into the ATS script.
-Is the Metal Gorget supposed to be a Body Armor?
Ah no. It was supposed to be an accesory. ><
-After battles, can you put the different "Item Found" messages on separate lines? Just makes it more legible.
I'm thinking of adding in Yanfly's Victory Aftermath script for the full game.
-Can you get rid of "Optimize" and "Aptitude"? Nobody ever uses them, and it's just more menu to navigate.
Optimise is a quick and dirty way to set equips, so yes. I'll nix that.
-Why am I still paralyzed after a battle? Is the status effect supposed to linger? That sucks.
Sorry about that. >< Considering I didn't add in an item that removes it, apart from the armours that resist it ( Leather Armour, Metal Gorget ).
-A place to heal in the Intro forest would've been nice. Like if we reused the campfire, or found a revisitable herb patch.
Oh come on. The forest isn't that hard. >:D But I'll add a heal spot.
-"War Council" is the wrong term for what happened there. There wasn't any strategy discussed or anything. All they did was bully Tristian. Maybe Debriefing or even just Report would fit better.
I meant to change that just to Meeting or yeah... Debriefing would have worked.
-After a Game Over, and the demo's end, it crashed when it returned to the Title Screen.
Really...? Weird. I'll do another run through ( I didn't get it since I never got Game Overs XD )
-What are "Odds" in the character stats? :D
Your character's chance of being targetted in battle. The lower it is, the less likely they are to be targetted. 4 is the highest, 1 is the lowest.
Writing these kind of stories are hard, but I'm just drawn to them for some reason.

Sure. I'd be glad to help you out making an overall plot. Geopolitics is another hobby of mine, so I know lots about faction fights, espionage, conspiracy, etc. I can't help with writing dialogue because Valor Emblem, but you know how to handle that part anyway :D
The problem was, I had 3 Antidotes and got poisoned 4 times :p

OMG, this is unexpected and very exciting. I never got a chance to play fully through the old demo, so I look forward to being quite inspired this time around. ^-^
@Blind: The plot seen in the demo may not actually resemble the final product though. >< But having Dyahlto as my scenario writer helps out a lot. We're promising to bring you guys something epic by year's end. =)
@luishuu: Ahaha. The game is only 20% complete ( head-desks ). ;_;
