Daughters are surnamed for their fathers. Sons are surnamed for their mothers.

This only applies to Commonfolk; most Noblefolk are named for whichever ancestor of theirs was made a noble originally.

So basically like Magnuson and Algotsdotter (daughter). Easy enough to get.

That dude's armor is pretty intricate for a Commonfolk man though.

The Polis has a fairly high standard of living! Noblefolk are more notable due to their service to the crown, and tend to be more involved in intellectual pursuits such as astronomy and theological surveying.
