Bug Fixes and Name Fixes

I should have known that renaming most of the characters was going a bit overboard! A big thanks to kalledemos for pointing out several name errors and bugs! I also want to thank pianotm who helped me out with bugs earlier!

There are probably plenty of name errors left over, so if you find any, (or any more bugs >.<;;) please let me know so I can fix 'em! I already found a few more in the graveyard area just on a quick glance.

Also, in an earlier version I added in a special place where you can buy a couple Rhapsody Seashells (for an outrageous price XD) just in case you didn't find a few. So if you have the earliest version and missed some, you should be able to download this new version, move your save files over, and be good to go.

I wish I had gotten a tester for this to stamp out all these bugs earlier, but given that I only barely finished in time to make the Revive the Dead deadline, that just wasn't possible. I appreciate everyone's patience ^_^

some more errors/bugs/issues:
  • I think you can go to the arena early, since upon getting the Xagor stone, a npc talking about how the arena recently opened will appear in misticonica. I, however, entered it either just before or just after going through the ancient temple dungeon. I think it coincides with the next issue.
  • The arena uses the 'unbeatable' version of demonic abomination.
  • The arena's monster selection is very inconsistent difficulty wise.(with the exception of the impossible difficulty)
  • rare gem refers to a "manasa." I'm guessing this should be mattie.
  • levron's Energy Pilfer skill refers to him as ion.
  • The Battle Axe is weaker than the Drakonis Axe you get after defeating the dragon to bring Ed back to life. this is doubly strange, since the weapon in question is found afterwards AND is 2-handed.(unless of course the other axe doesn't have a 100% drop rate) Also: I think the Battle Axe inflicts a status effect, but it doesn't say in the description.
  • psionic sheild's item description misspell 'shield' and 'durable'
  • Mystic Shield's description has a typo: 'shiled'
  • magic ring has an out of place/oddly worded description.
  • the Princess Dress snd Crown of Powers' item descriptions refer to rane as 'adonia'.
  • healing item prices are kinda weird and should probably be reworked a bit(meta tonic and multi-tonic are WAAY better than meta potion mid and end game; price jump between mystic bloom and mana lily is HUGE; etc.)
  • BRING ED BACK FROM THE GRAVE (AGAIN) HE WAS GREAT

As for the post:
nuh-uh, I should be thanking YOU: the game is easily a rm2k gem, notwithstanding bugs.

Well I'm just about to start this, sorry RL got in the way, I'll let you know if I find any mismatches or bugs. Though it looks like you've got a couple of good pest controllers already on the job.
11/04 is the latest to be dl but as of yesterday 11/07 you say youve fixed a bunch of things. I hate to admit it but I am confused....are we waiting for dl dated today or tomorrow or magically the 04 has been transformed into the newest ? I am sure it is my rapidly approaching senility. Oh and of course this is NOT Linkis under a pseudonym!

That's weird. I'm not sure what's causing that. I'll re-upload the latest version just in case. None of the current bugs are game-breaking, but I'd still rather have the latest version in your hands.

Sorry for the double-post, but I wanted you to know that I uploaded the current version, and now the download for the game reads as 11/8/2014, so I know it's current. It looks like that if you don't rename the download or the description, and just upload a new version, it doesn't update the date correctly.

At any rate, I've downloaded it and confirmed that it's the latest version, so you can download with confidence! ^_^ I hope you enjoy the game :D

ok, first lot

• Bandit Hideout - dialogue interacting with crystal after killing first knight, theives should be thieves
• Outside the bandit lair one of the skeletons dialogue is rest in piece, unless that's a pun it should be peace
• First talking to Sarah in town she says ‘I'm on official buisness from Shevacrest. I'm waiting for an audience witht the Duke, should be business and with the Duke
• First conversation with the duke Vittoria says "I'd like to at least hear all of the details first. Why an expidition to Leenslay?" That should be expedition.
• Bram says are you still looking for warriors for your your expedition,
• NPC image just have NPC? Not sure f that is a bug or time constraints
• Cat shopkeeper in Maple says greatests not greatest.
• In the haunted ruins in Ellhaven the second floor chest says recieved Huge shield should be received.
• Captain after Sarah has been caught says stoways, should be stowaways.
• Sarah’s joining speech she states she can’t stand idely by, should be idly.
• The lone house in Leenslay with the bones outside Bram says this skeliton is holding, should be skeleton.
• After every battle the XP and gold message says you found XX GP money, you don’t need both GP and money.
• Why does the Tempest Epee found message (in the cave in the mountains) say ‘weapon for Sarah’?
• In the weapon shop in Craze the squire shield is spelt sheild.
• Also in Craze when you are speaking to the king about Baramuirge he says No, don’t. It should be No, I don’t. Also Rane hold your tonuge should be tongue
• Vittoria spells Baramuirge as Baramiurge in this conversation, and then the King does too.
• In Bio you can walk on the roof of the Inn, but only in one spot, the second tile up on the left side.
• In Bio the weapon store vendor says I’m stuck mending the store, I think that’s supposed to be minding.
• In the graveyard the second grave from the left bottom row says ‘leaded his men’ should be lead his men.

Just got my nethers handed to me by the abomination, I'm taking a break.

Totally Embarrassing Fun Fact: Teenage unity has misspelled "received" IN EVERY SINGLE TREASURE BOX. I tried to get them all but looks like I missed one (though I won't be a bit surprised if there's more). While fixing them all, I got tired typing "received" over and over and over, so I threw in some "Found"s and "Got"s in the mix ^^;;

Originally, all NPCs had RTP facesets, but it bugged me that they weren't in the same style as my face drawings, so I put the descriptions as a replacement. I must admit it isn't an ideal solution.

so here's a few more, sorry couldn't play much today

Ifirit ring for the fire resistance, I think you mean Ifrit, the Arabic fire djinn.
• Ed’s opening speech he says ‘our first order of buisness.’ That should be business.
• Aqua Sword’s description has witht the power should be with the power
• Darkness sword description has weild should be wield
• Under the grave the first statue Sarah says ‘a monsterous statue’ should be monstrous (unless you meant a very bad pun).
• After defeating Chester (yes I saw what you did there) the message says he can now rest in piece, which should be peace.
• Odd observation, you walk down one flight of stairs from the fake grave and then to take on Chester you walk up another flight but you are not back on the surface but still in the catacomb.

I hope I'm being clear enough about where these are so you can find them easily enough, let me know if I'm not.

I noticed a few of these instances of me blatantly disregarding spacial common sense in the game. I think I may add a second set of stairs that you descend when first entering the crypt to make this one a little less terrible XD

Sheesh, unity. If I'd known you wanted tiny errors like typos and the like, I would have given them to you. This was a 12 year old game, so I thought I'd just mention major overall balancing issues...

... Which is why I've been rather quiet these last few days. I can't find any MAJOR issues other than the ones I pointed out in the game discussion thread. I'm having so much fun with this.

I'm at the same place as nhubi. I will have to disagree with nhubi regarding Vittoria, though. I don't feel like she has enough personality to her to define her character a whole lot. At least from major cutscenes. Most of the time when she examines something, it's all, "We should move on," or something unimportant. Perhaps if she spoke out more about her thoughts on other people she could define herself a bit more.

I feel like part of the reason I have trouble connecting with Vittoria is all the missed opportunities. Like going to Vittoria's father's house. Why is just the father there? Where is her mother? Another opportunity (though perhaps this one will be covered later) is arriving at the same cliff as in the intro. I don't know the overarching story, but I feel like there should be SOME significant event when you first show up there. I don't know.

Everyone else, though, I feel more than makes up for that. The supporting cast has such strong personalities. It really makes it entertaining to see how they react to everything, even the mundane items!


So overall, I still stand by what I said in the discussion thread. The strongest point, by far (for me at least), is the interesting characters. Too bad I still don't have a strong understanding of the overarching plot. The battles still seem to boil down to mashing attack, then mashing the strongest attack when boss fights come around.

Though, and this may sound crazy, I feel like diversifying battle abilities would actually WEAKEN the overall experience, rather than STRENGTHENING it. To me, it feels like the game really wants you to be immersed in the WORLD, not focusing on battle tactics and obsessive grinding. Frankly, I think it does a great job of that.

Back in my giant blog that I released a day or two after the game came out, I specifically said that while I'd greatly appreciate help with typos, that I wouldn't specifically be asking for help in that area, because I feel like that's too much to ask, and the same goes for you, Red. I'm glad! ^_^ My own views on this game are a bit skewed given its age, so the fact that its a fun play is very satisfying, despite the flaws.

Teenage unity wasn't concerned with telling a "good" story, as she didn't think she had the skill for that, so she tried for a silly, fun game instead, with a bit of seriousness in the mix. Back then, I wasn't really thinking "Hey, Vittoria's dad! He should have a scene to help establish Vittoria's character and motivation!" like I would be today. I was just thinking "Hehe, it would be funny to have a hero's dad who keeps asking about her adventures but is always too pissed when you agree to tell him about them!"

Therefore, there are plenty of missed opportunities when it comes to storytelling. I think one of the biggest ones concerns a character named Fiametta, who you will meet closer to the end of the game. I think you'll be able to see the missed potential and storytelling opportunities there, as I did, now with twelve years of hindsight.

Not that there's no serious storytelling, far from it. But I just didn't have the chops or the inclination to try for a truly deep story back then.

Thanks! I still hope that at some point, you won't be able to mash attack and beat challenges. It does get a little harder, but it'll probably not reach the level of what you like in a game as far as difficulty is concerned.

• Another of those spacial issues, entering into the mine you enter facing north but when you transition to the map you’re entering from the south and you’re actually facing the door/opening to leave rather than having it behind you.
• Talking to Gustave he says a masssive worm talon, should be massive and metieorite should be meteorite, untik should be until
• On the airship Rane’s diary refers to the crew as servents should be servants
• In the hidden library one of books, back shelf in the middle says coloring books, serioisily should be seriously
• The weapon shopkeeper in Uppervale says ‘ururat has the best weapons’.
• The yellow haired dude in Uppervale castle says this place is a warririor’s paradise, should be warrior’s
• Conversation between Valnish and Zollgang he says goten instead of gotten about the potential priestesses
• Valnish says relm rather than realm when taunting Ed. Fiametta says the same when they arrive in Haven
• Every status ailment inflicted on the party by an enemy that fails says XX was not effected should be affected. The positive ones cast by party members on each other uses the right word
• Vittoria’s Life Force spell has the message XX is back in buisness should be business.

• The thunder eternal doesn’t turn into a ball of transporting light when killed
• Wilkinson’s speech after you rescue Faimetta says expert of magical feilds, should be fields.
• Vittoria talking to Ashley about the demon power source says sacrifice thier immortality should be their. Ashley does the same thing a couple of lines later.
• Ashley then says magnatude, should be magnitude
• After leaving the giant whirlpool your airship is a red shadow, the graphic doesn’t reassert itself until after you land.
• In the demon castle one of the demons dialogue from Levron is ‘knell before me’ I think you meant kneel. It’s in the room with the lava lake and the long bridge over it.
• When the Eye starts speaking to you it says welecome should be welcome

Gah. I'm so slow at games. Then again, with you being the review machine you are, nhubi, I don't think I would have had any chance.
