Played this a while back but picked it up and played through it again to get the true ending.

Story
There isn't much given to the plot other than the main character Viola is lost in a forest, where the only way to go is through an old abandoned house. A black cat serves as the save point and gives a bit more of hints how to progress into the house and the reasons you're getting through it. When you indeed find out what's been guiding you and Viola's background at the end of the game you'll be quite mind blown, at least I was - It's a sad ending, as the plot is orchestrated in a way that all is revealed at the end.

Characters
There isn't many characters others than Viola, the Black Cat, Ellen and Viola's Father. Viola doesn't have much dialog until the end. The same goes for Ellen and Viola's father.

Gameplay
This is where The Witch's House really shines! This is not a typical jumpscare game around every corner like Five Nights at Freddies, but rather builds tension as the game progresses. There's around a 100 ways to die in the game if not more, which makes it rather more challenging. A neat set of puzzles makes the house an interesting place to wander around in, rather than dull. Creepy statues, deadly killer bears and creepy book texts forces you to be on your toes, as you do not know if the room you just entered can finish you off in some sort of way or that the item you just picked up will have fatal consequences.

Mapping
The maps in the game pretty much centers around the mansion itself and indoor interior, but that doesn't seem to be a problem as the maps are filled and not left empty. The fact that the you can't see much more than a couple of tiles in front of you due to the "fog of war" makes the experience much more creepy and horror-esque.

Sum
The Witch's House has pretty much set the standard of a good Rpg Maker horror game and deserves a playthrough from the common rmn enthusiast.
