This reminds me a bit of Paper Mario, but it reminds me even more of Pokemon around Generation 4 or 5, just a bit less top-down.

Of course, that reminds Pokemon too, I think it's because of textures style. In fact, there are from my previous project that had a Zelda/Pokemon style :



But I remember that 2D sprites were only used for NPCs in Pokemon. :p
