It's been 6 years since the implementation of the initial trial system. Crime, however, is still on the rise, and the police are having an increasingly difficult time of keeping up with the amount of murders committed. The discord in the law is at an all-time high as more and more people are being convicted of crimes they did not commit.
Of course, there are those who fight the system. One defense attorney has stood against the current for three years and has fought to protect the victims of the initial trial system, but that very system has now taken his badge, and he is forced to pass the baton to his young student, Saturn Fib.
Can Saturn Fib continue where the great Phoenix Wright left off, or will the system defeat him, just like it defeated his mentor before him? Will he be able to save the innocent from the worst fate imaginable, or will he be consumed by the tragedy of three years past?
- Saturn Fib: Ace Attorney will be a four-case Ace Attorney fangame, made with the trial maker at Ace Attorney Online.
- All the trials will be playable in internet browsers. Ace Attorney online recommends using Mozilla Firefox, but Google Chrome will work too. Using Google Chrome may result in irregularities in the cases, however.
- At this point in time, the first of the four cases is completed, with the second case having one finished part.
- The main download of this game is a hyperlink that will lead directly to the player for case 1. For the first part of case 2, check the downloads. This is also where the first part of the other cases will later be found.
The Ace Attorney franchise is owned by CapCom.

I made this gamepage, not only to show off my own cases, which still need a lot of work, but also to bring attention to the existance of Ace Attorney Online, a wonderful website that I hope many Ace Attorney fans on RMN will visit to play/create some awesome fancases. The website has been going for quite a while, but it seems to be losing popularity. I want it to get more love.

Ah I used to go on that website. Some of the cases are pretty well constructed, but majority of them are either bad or nonsensical. Like everyone has their own train of logic. While the official Ace Attorney titles do their best to limit the logic choices you can make in a certain order and drop cues often, many of the fan cases leave give you a general idea of what you need to do, but not where you need to go. On top of that, the game tends to be glitchy.
Your case was pretty easy to follow. The clues were sufficiently placed in the dialogue and there wasn't a lot of redundant items. However, I do feel that your attempts to incorporate the canonical story into the game is a little overbearing.
By the way, the opening court scene is a bit off. The dialogue says "Saturn! boolean guilty = true; if(guilty) {electric chair = true;} I'm so done foooooooooor!" and "Saturn... Please help me... string answer << cin;" Payne claims that he lost to Mia "5 years ago." Wright wasn't a lawyer until about 6 or 7 years after his case.

That opening scene is actually intentional. The defendant is a programmer, after all. "boolean guilty = true; if(guilty) {electric chair = true;}" means he says he is guilty, and will therefore be given the electric chair. "string answer << cin;" means he's asking for an answer. It's supposed to be a joke.
And the ace attorney timeline states Nick's trial for the murder of Doug Swallow was April 11 2014, 5 years before these events in 2019. It's not possible for Nick to only become a lawyer 6 years after that trial, as he was 24 in the trial of Larry Butz, and he was definitely over 20 in his own trial.

I find it interesting so far! If you don't mind my asking, though, and also pardon if this is answered later in the case, when and why did Saturn start law school? because, if my logic is sound, evidence I've found states law school takes three years to complete in the U.S., and you can take your bar exam almost right after. That means he would be either fourteen or fifteen when he started, and the earliest you can start is thirteen. In conclusion, did he always want to be a lawyer and just started a year or two late, or did something happen during that time in his life?

I got around to playing your second case. So far it's been alright, but I still feel that there were too many references to the canon. The cases are almost name-dropping characters and events. Like even within the real games, they don't usually talk about cases or characters that are not present or relevant unless they are supposed to pop up later in the case. In both of your games, there seems to be a lot of mentions of names and events. The Hawthorn diamond reference was alright, but the names of the canonical gangs was not necessary. The first case gave Gavin too much presence, stating that he was Fib's prior mentor and apparently a celebrity defense attorney. The Yatagarasu was thrown in, despite it only appearing in the Miles Edgeworth titles. The second game mentioned Edgeworth a bit, but the case isn't finished yet, so I'm not sure whether he appears or not. Wright's loss was a bit over-dramatized and rushed, making the story feel awkward and unnatural. The second game's language is a bit deviant from the titles. Like I can't imagine Gumshoe ever saying "Damn right." On top of that, there was mention of a one night stand.

As someone who never played an Ace Attorney game before I really enjoyed what you did, for a starter case it was good, perhaps the only thing was 'Ok, I have this evidence which obviously proves this, when do I use it??!?!' since it wasn't very clear 'when' certain evidence would be used when you were cross-examinating; besides that I really liked it and the story just made me feel immersed into what I was doing, the constant roler-coaster of evidence and new witnesses/characters plus the constant 'I will defy your theory so prove you are correct!' made me actually feel like the entire case depended on that evidence several times and that my ass was on the line.
Overall a very nice experience, can't wait for your other releases and I will keep an eye out for them.
(Ps: I have no idea what this dude who keeps complaining about how many references you make to the original game is complaining about; when in fact those references just show how much you love the game that you wanted to incorporate them into your own; and if anything, wouldn't a fan of the series be happy to see these references and how they affect this story?)

@papujack Since you haven't played the original series, I strongly recommend it. As for why I'm complaining about the references, it's because it's over abundant. If the references affected the story, I wouldn't mind as much, but more often than not, they're complete cameos. Rather than appearing naturally, it feels rather forced, like the author was trying to jam as many characters names into the story possible and not really have them do anything. Like imagine if your friends just came out of the theater after seeing a movie and was talking about. Now say one friend started talking like "YEAH LIKE OH MY GAWD I SAW THAT." "REMEMBER HOW THAT MOVIE ENDED?" "LIKE WHO KNEW BATMAN WOULD BE IN A BATMAN MOVIE!?" There's like unnecessary reminders and recaps.

All's fair in feedback, and it's certainly true that there are more references to events in the Ace Attorney universe than there are in the original games. I haven't made any references for the sake of making those references, however. (Except for Lotta appearing as a witness, but then I gave her a big impact on the case.) The references came to be because I felt they were appropriate given what was happening at that point in the case. If they still felt forced, that shows I need to work on my writing, but I feel this issue has been discussed enough. ^^

You are right, I guess there is alot of references all over the place.
