Girl Power

Four Sisters of the Wind is a very short traditional RPG made in RPG Maker MV by Alichains. it was created using the 20 Day free trial of RPG Maker MV and is notable for being the first complete MV game submitted to RMN. Unfortunately it shows a lot of signs of being rushed.

The premise is very simple. You command a traditional adventuring party of four women called the Four Sisters of the Wind. (Whether they're actually sisters is a little unclear. They sure don't look related.) They've been tasked by a local lord to find a treasure form a crumbling temple. In addition to dealing with the temple's many guardians, they are also confronted by a few strangers lurking around who seem to know a little too much. And one of the sisters thinks the job offer is a little shady...

*ALARM KLAXONS*

The game is simple no-frills dungeon crawl that follows a pattern of a gauntlet of enemies followed by a boss. Enemies are non-random and do not respawn, which is pretty cool. Your party is a standard fighter/rogue/cleric/mage with each member pretty much sticking to their own area of expertise with no variation. The game is very easy with your party members quickly able to outclass their opposition with a variety of powerful buffs and status effects. I enjoy games that make these worth using, although this game seems to have gone a little overkill.

By the time I reached the second boss I was skipping all the random battles and still trouncing the bosses. This creates the amusing situation where it seems that either all the guardians of the temple are actually incredibly weak, or the sisters, who by all appearances are a pretty ordinary crew of adventurers, are actually hyper-capable badasses able to stomp hell demons beneath their heels by level 5. Honestly, with the way the characters in this game are written it could go either way.

The writing is very basic with the sisters having no real personality traits, and more emphasis being placed on the strangers wandering around the ruins. The writing is unfortunately marred by an abundance of typos that detract from the experience, as well as a few skills that do not work right or do not have proper MP costs associated with them; a sure sign of rushed development. But still, it's a complete MV game.

If you're dying to see what's new in RPG Maker MV you could do worse than check out Four Sisters of the Wind, although at only about twenty minutes in length and only very basic functionality you'll only catch a glimpse. Although the game is not much of a challenge and is marred by typos and a few mechanical issues there's nothing offensive or frustrating that makes it a poor experience. But don't expect a great deal of detail or impressive technical feats either.
