Welcome, Player. You have been selected as part of a representative group that will determine the fates of fellow human beings. This is all in the nature of curbing population growth and promoting sustainability. Choose 3 of 12 individuals to survive and live their lives to completion based off of minimal data. Will you choose the college student? The food critic? Or perhaps the average guy?

Curb the Population! is a small decision-based game made with RPG Maker MV. You can play it in the browser, or download it for Windows and Mac. This game was created as an experiment into the Javascript communication abilities of RPG Maker MV. Data on the decisions that players make are compounded and displayed on HunterMusicAndTV. Play the game and make your decisions first; don't let what other players chose affect how you decide.

Game Completed: Data collected and a possible tutorial?

So, Curb the Population! is completed and will only really be updated if any problems or errors are found in the game. I would like to take some time and analyze some of that data I have collected when it comes to player choice. The decisions on who should live and who should die can all be compiled and viewed on my website here.

As of right now, I would say that player choice has been pretty predictable with players choosing the intelligent, yet blind, October the most (45 times as of right now) to be one of the survivors. On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have Lorcious the clog-wearing, food critic who has only been chosen 8 times. Still, I find it very intriguing how the other characters have panned out in the decision process and will be interested to see in the future how the data grows.

On another note, I was wondering if anyone would benefit from me creating a tutorial on how I collected data on player decision in the new RPG Maker MV? I would be happy to do a video tutorial if that is something that people would use. Though I can't promise it is the most effective way of collecting player decision data, I do find that it works extremely well.

Hey~ This looks like an interesting little project. Reminds me of a movie I watched not long ago where a bunch of people trapped in a room had to choose who to kill off until only one remained. Not sure that RPG really fits it as a genre, though. XD

Having gotten my first 4/5, I must now work hard to obtain... my second 4/5.

This game's concept sounds strange and unique, I'm really curious!

Will be trying it out, definitely.

Did that movie happen to be The Circle? And, yeah, I put RPG but that doesn't really fit it well. I changed it to Simulation because I think that may be a bit more accurate.

I hope it does not disappoint! It is short and, admittedly, lacks replayability. But it is a precursor to a much larger game with a similar theme. I wished to test some ideas and get some player feedback on some of the things I've tried before moving on to the larger game I have planned.
This was fun.

Also it's neat to RMN data analytics. Hopefully you can put a decent package together, making something like that accessible would go a long way.

Oh, I love Circle. <3 Pretty poignant social commentary and very fun concept.

Yup, that was the movie. It was quite interesting, I thought, definitely worth checking out if it hasn't been seen yet.

So I played.
I let October live, as well as the post lady and the one who went on to get her physics degree. It's an interesting little game.
@Liberty I let the same people live coincidentally!
Yay! October! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

EDIT: I also really like the music. It's pretty great.
Reminds me a lil' bit of this.

I want to try this game but seemingly can not install it.
