In Final Fantasy R you are a party adventures who have set out to enter the Infinite Dungeon and collect the 17 Elemental Crystal within, and perhaps confront the dungeons master Asmodeus! Final Fantasy R combines the battle and adventure style of Final Fantasy with the randomly generated dungeons of a Rogue-Like. A Rogue-Like is a randomly generated game, where they player has to explore a dungeon, reach the bottom, and escape alive. Most Rogue-Like give you only one life, Final Fantasy R generously allows you to save. All of the loot in Final Fantasy R is randomly generated, like Diablo and thanks to Yanflys wonderful plug-ins, so no two playthroughs will be similar!

Final Fantasy R attempts to be a similar experience to the FF5 and FF6 Ancient Cave Rom hacks, with a much expanded dungeon. There are many levels of the dungeon to explore, as well as many bosses to defeat and random loot to collect. The game is currently unfinished, but is in a playable state to fool around with. The final version will have more levels/items/skill/class, more of everything basically.

1.3 Update!

I have added a small update today, adding a few features that should be nice:

-The Library, a kind of tutorial area where you can learn about the game and also buy skill books

-Final Bosses, You can now buy the Amulet of Yendor and use it to challenge for Godhood. This allows you to win the game. You will get a final score based on the difficulty of your challenge, and how fast you beat the game.

A lot of feedback this time, as a whole there's a lot of things that take away challenge from the game(although some of them are currently necessary to kill bosses, otherwise Bosses would take forever with a damage cap of 9999, silence and poison or air anchor/chainsaw are necessities at the moment since bosses can have millions of hp and are able to cast cure 4 to heal it all):

The new crafting system makes crafting kind of useless, I was able to get 17 crystals and max out the Student class making all stats 99999 and hp/mp 999999 before getting all the ingredients for one of the new recipes. (The Parts still use the old money recipes so those are still an insanely fast way to increase stats on chars that can equip them. The old recipes made the game pretty easy, craft relic -> ring of arcana + glove of dex or economizer then AOEing to 1-shot first turn every battle. This playthrough was actually slightly more difficult because 99% of the items that used to be craftable just didn't gather materials in time for the items to be of use.)

I also noticed that Chainsaw and Air Anchor (I haven't tested other instant death) is able to instant kill bosses. (Although there's a lot of exploits to kill bosses anyway, e.g. Scanner to stop them, Bio Blast to poison them to death)

The game is also lacking in items or stats to raise to defend against status ailments (If you're doing a solo run and your char gets hit by sleep, paralyze, fear, confuse etc might as well reload save because the enemies will reapply those statuses and you'll never get a turn)

I forgot to mention that there's a bug with the Bad Breath spell that makes all except one or all physical attacks miss an enemy that has all the negative statuses.

The 99,999,999 money cap is also pretty easy to reach after killing a few bosses and there isn't much to spend it on quickly. (Even spending it all on Golden Modules or Stat Elixirs is too slow to use up money at the rate that bosses drop it) (Maybe there can be really expensive craftable things such as Bigger Permanent Stat Elixirs for 40k, 400k, 4m, 40m)

One of the annoying things is having to rely on the randomization to reach the Asmodeus room too, if there was a craftable item to teleport to that room or a home base NPC to just directly go to that room the player wouldn't have to go back to home base and repeatedly change the seed.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I know the balance is a pretty terrible in this version, but I am considering it a learning experience. I don't know if I am going to be updating FF-R again, I have been working quite a bit on the next version, and there are so many changes that I would consider it a different game, and I'll likely have to release it under another name or something.

I have added the Yanflys Rows system, and given every skill and weapon a long/mid/close range, making position in battle very tactical. I have also implemented the Yanfly party Limit plug-in, so now you need to build up party gauge in order to use each characters special battle commands. Even with cooldowns I could never balance those commands, but with the party limit gauge its really easy. The enemies troops get a gauge too, and I've used to to lock some of their more potent powers, so they need to build up the bar first. It gives battles a very good back and fourth flow.

I have also ditched ATB and went with the much superior CTB system, which doesn't make you wait for bars to fill up and lets you see the turn order ahead of time. These changes have made the battles 1000% more interesting and tactical, but not very Final Fantasy, so I decided to rebrand the game (I was also lazy and wanted to make 100 characters to go along with my 100 classes, so the characters generator was a lot more appealing than ripping more NES sprites :P )

You ever consider changing/removing the Basic Upgrade and Craft Parts items? Both this and Final Fantasy R are both ridiculously easy after learning craft parts and making a ton of Golden and Multiplex++ modules. :P

Yeah it is pretty potent, but I like the flexibility it gives the robot type classes. I could make it require more than money, that would put a bit of a bottleneck in the process and make it a lot more tedious to do.

Its a learning process!

When you made a new class, the 007 did you go to the "Animations 2" tab and set all of the weapon animations for it? Thats the only thing I could think of.

I think I found the problem "event script referenced a battle animation that does not exist" "TWO WPN" Two-Handed Weapons ,causes this error, make sure that I'm right Rutibex



You two do know you can PM each other with stuff like this, right? Or you could make a private page where you two can interact among yourselves - just add Snowqueen as a tester in Manage Games, then make a new page in the same area, and make it so that only testers can see/comment on it.
That way you two can comment back and forth and not fill up the basic comment area with technical talk.

Have you considered removing sleep,paralyze,charm,stop,etc and instant death attacks from the game?

Usually if you're using only one character and fighting a monster that uses these skills, it puts you into an infinite stun loop because they recast the stun skill before the previous skill's duration is over.

The game is heavily reliant on instant death attacks for killing bosses. (I can't really think of a way to kill them before one of them puts you into an infinite stun other than instant death on 1st turn or whenever you're not stunned. Using Odin in the 8 boss arena is pretty much the only way to win.)
