Welcome HOME! The cutest rpgmaker adventure!

Hello, and welcome HOME!
HOME is in fact a RPG Maker VX Ace adventure game made by Soihylmz, author of another adventure I played and reviewed in 2022, With Sprinkles, but that game was made in 2014 and this one in 2016, showing a good improvement concerning the original graphics and assets created by the developer.

The protagonist and our alter ego in this little adventure, is Lavender Pendergrass, a young girl that lives with her brothers and aunt in an apartment complex populated by ghotsts and spirits. Her family is in fact able to see these creatures and her aunt invites these being to stay there since they have no... HOME! The difficulty comes from the fact that our guests are inside a locked room that has also a barrier formed by overgrown ivy.

OH NO! HELPPP! What does this spirit what from us? Well you won't even imagine...

The gameplay? Well, like With Sprinkles we've another rpgmaker adventure game where we will have to solve some fetch quest to find items needed to progress. There is a menu to check the items we've obtained so far, anyway do not worry too much, because even when we'll have to combine the items we actually won't need to use the menu, but instead it will be necessary the help of a particular character. So the strategy is as follows: collect all you can find and speak to everyone, and you can't go wrong! After all some events are a bit bizarre, and not because the sprits are involved... I mean getting a wad of cash from a ghost without any reason? Uhmmmm ok! Useful but why?
For the rest all tasks are more or less easy to understand (it took me a bit to figure out the use of the crate full of manga!), the location isn't very big and many characters are also non-interactable. I just wish there was more story due to the presence of some really nice cutscenes but a really short introduction and ending.

Since I've mentioned the cutscenes, I can tell that the graphics are really pretty and cute: it's a colorful little peaceful world where humans and spirits live together. There are no battles, no violence, not even puzzles aside for the tasks and that's good and appropriate, the only thing that is missing is more interactivity, I mean just some messages when interacting with something that's useless would have been fine. But no, here the only things that matter, bar a couole of exceptions, are only those items and characters that can be interacted, and it's a pity since the world is so nice and rich of details. It's very cool.
This cute setting with happy colors is well complemented by the music, that while not special is still pretty good!

Oh and for some reason there are small plants that are used as save points BUT you can still save from the menu at any time, so there isn't really need to use the plants (that are placed in many rooms).

Hey, wait! That's really A LOT of Pizza!

Final Verdict
Aside from the really pretty and cute aestetic, there isn't much to say: Home is a pretty short adventure game, and I admit I liked it a little more than With Sprinkles: the art is surely better, it's a pity that this is once again a really short scenario that could have been expanded, not because there are few locations and characters but because all these locations and (especially) characters aren't developed enough, some are just part of the scenario that is so charming that it asks to be defined more. Well, if you want to play a simple and cute game that won't take you more than 30-40 minutes, this is for you, no challenges, just a relxing short adventure.
