Nope, using a simple white overlay will not make the floor more visible than it already is. You see, according to the transparency algorithm you are employing, it's averaging the pixels from the flashlight to the floor and showing you the result. The result is just a faded out version of something already hard to see.

Actually, looking at it now, I totally see how it was done. It looked a lot more convincing on my iPhone, but on my desktop, at full scale, it's pretty obvious.

Oh it's very cool. Just wasn't thinking when I looked at it the first time so it threw me for a loop. But it caught everyone's attention and got us all talking, so that right there in itself I spot on.
