Shock and Speechlessness 2: The Shockening

Hoo boy, where to even start? I've been putting off writing this blog for a couple of days now because I'm not exactly sure what to say. Welp, let's start from the beginning. A few days ago, Umbral Soul won 3 and 1/3 Misaos: Best Protagonist/Characters, Best Intro, Best Gameplay Balance, and a three way tie with Lakria Legends and Sideways for Raddest Setting.

To be perfectly honest, I'm speechless. In fact, I've been speechless for 3 days, which is why this blog is coming so late. Once again, my good friends shock and speechlessness have shown up at my doorstep, carrying gift baskets filled with fruit and trail mix. I don't think I've ever felt like this before in my life, and I doubt I ever will again. It just isn't something you can put into words.

Let's get this out of the way; I am extremely flattered and thankful to this community for its kindness. When I joined this site and submitted this game, winning a Misao was such a far off dream that I never even considered it possible. Heck, I thought even getting a single review would be a stretch. I actually laughed when people suggested it could be even remotely possible for this game to win a Misao. Yet here I am, talking to all of you now, overwhelmed by a powerful mixture of disbelief and joy that that has socked me in the jaw harder than Mike Tyson in the final level of Punch Out.

I'd like to give a big fat thank you, not only to those of you who voted for the game, but who gave it a chance. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would become this popular. I'm going to do my best to live up to your expectations for future games, if for no other reason than to give back some of the joy this community has given me. And to you goofballs who voted for Umbral Soul in the "Best Fangame" category, you're all shmucks. Lovable shumucks, but shumcks. Thanks again, now it's time for me to get back to work and make you guys some even better games!

Wow! Congratulations, Wheelman!! I believe it is well deserved as everyone can see the amount of effort you've put into the game. It's amazing! ^_^
What's amazing is the sheer number of awesome people on this site. This never would've happened without the encouragement of several awesome rmn'ers, yourself included.

Congratulations pal!!! your game really deserves it, I´m already out of words besides the review and messages and all that.

Many of us have played the masterpieces like The Witch´s House, Ib, Mad Father etc, so end up expecting kinda little about modern indie rpg´s, like you don´t feel you´ll feel so excited again. Your game was able to prove otherwise. More that three misaos implies many more exciting and great games can appear in the future and that really gives you motivation to keep in touch with indie´s.

You´re a good guy too I think, nice to meet you through rmn!

All of us will be expecting the sequel!!
Thanks Akari, that means more than you know. There are a lot of talented and creative indie devs and hobbyists out there, so new and exciting games are always on the rise, you just need to know where to look. Sometimes you just need to get lucky and stumble upon them.

As for myself, I'll continue doing my best to make enjoyable games to share with everyone. It's been great meeting you and all the other kind users here on rmn, it truly has been a blessing. Thanks again everyone for all the kind words!
Hi,

i ve just started playing this game, and its fantastic; wondering if there is a walk through or guide, not saying this game is hard, its just im kinda a completionist, and would love to get the most bang out of this game...

thanks in in advance!

Hey Kaou! Not to worry, you aren't the first person to ask about a walkthrough. I'm actually working on an upgraded version of this game with glitch and spelling fixes, additional content, and an entirely new campaign. Among the added features will be a guide for the game, detailing how to unlock all the scenarios, obtain all the summons, and find all the sidequests. It isn't done quite yet, so if you need any specific hints on anything, you can always feel free to shoot me a mail.
Ah, I didn't realize we're also going to get a guide with the upgraded version of the game, all sounds good WheelmanZero!

If you need to relieve stress, there has to be a better method than annoying the hell out of us. Or maybe visit a bridge or a train station, enjoy the fresh air one last time.
Yeah, he's gone again. Jeez.
Guess it'll be fun in this section
What happened to this game? Is the creator still active? Been a while since any updates
I'm pretty sure I'm still alive. Hold on, let me check my pulse. Yup, still kicking.

The reason why I've been avoiding updates is because I want to avoid people thinking the ultimate edition is done when I post a blog, hence the radio silence. If people really want blogs I can start them up again though.
