I really wanted to like this game. It's got the music we can turtle jam to, it's got the quotes, it's got the feel. Just.....it is WAY unbalanced. I blew through all of my healing items on Bebop, Rocksteady, and the Shredder. Like, I barely beat him. I got lucky.
But, when I got to the first true boss of the game, the Rat King, that's where the unbalance really shines. Rat King can 2 shot each Turtle....In one freaking turn! I had only one Revive left at this point, and it did not make a difference.
He's doing 240-260 damage a hit, can attack twice, and my Turtles can do maybe 80 damage most each to him without buffs. A boss should be hard, yes. But it shouldn't be almost downright impossible. And as the case with the first three I mentioned, definitely shouldn't come down to luck, although a little is okay.
It needs a way to buy items at the beginning of the game, a way to heal while grinding, like going back and sleeping at the lair or something. And I wish there was a way to do a mini map in these games as the sewers was one giant maze. I just wandered my way around until I found what I needed to.
It's got the nostalgia, and the flare, it just doesn't have the soul.
But don't get me wrong, just because it doesn't have the soul, doesn't mean it doesn't have the heart.
It's got an engaging story, attempts to stay true to the characters, and has a nice way to purchase skills as you level.
This game, despite its glaring unbalanced issue, is worth a try. I feel with a little polishing, this game could be a real gem. I give it a 7/10 for effort. You should definitely try it.

I think there is a shop in the beginning of the game. I don't remember when it is but it's on the surface and it's run by Irma.

There's no indication of it. Also, I wasn't able to find it.

Wow, it has been too long since I visited this site, so sorry for the delayed response.
Todpole is right, there is a store right outside of April's apartment (just up from the Turtle Lair), but you are totally right that it is not clear. There is even a map inside the Turtle Lair that shows a lot of the locations, but if I were to go back I would really make that MUCH more obvious.
So, I totally agree, the balance could have been done better and could use some fine tuning. But all-in-all, I am glad you liked the rest of the game. I worked really hard on it and I am really proud of how it turned out although I know it isn't perfect.
Thank you so much for taking the time to play and write a review about my game!!
