Progress Report of Power Report

Welp.

I think I've done it.

I've finally got the job system functioning the way I want it to. It's a completely functional system with no bugs. It's stripped down from the FFV system, there are limitations, and I have a few things to figure out wrt the impact of those limitations. But it's functioning, and I just cleared another hurdle between me and the project seeing fruition.

Now I need to go back and undo the mess I've made. Thinking of starting with a clean project file, but I've done so many tweaks and then forgotten about them that it becomes a forensic trial just trying to reproduce them.

Algorithms! I hate 'em. But I gotten a lot more comfortable with the (fairly elaborate) algorithms being used. Everything works like it's supposed to, so now it's only a matter of spending hours (and weeks and years) gradually balancing and fine-tuning everything.

I guess I don't have much left to do but make the game. My biggest issue right now is, I guess, a relatively petty one. I really, really, realzies, want to use and ATB system. I know, I know. Guess it's a generational thing. Problem is, I need to use a custom gauge, the one drawn by the engine ruins the effect of all my beautiful 8-bit pixels. That's gonna require a plugin, right? I am not gonna be able to do that on my own. Just not feeling the other battle systems.

I guess that's really it. Since I don't have anything to show, here's a map from something completely unrelated to the topic. I kinda went crazy with the mountain tiles.

I will never stop. It'll always be slow, but the process is one of overcoming hurdles and gradually figuring out what's possible. The progress I've made this year is huge, and finally getting the job system right is a big step.

I think I'm going to reward myself by making some maps. I realize I might be needing some graphical assets soon.
If you need help with them, let me know. I haven't been spriting tooooo much, but I still got it I think lol...
Finding sprites & tiles is still far enough down my to-do list that I haven't bothered pleading for resources yet, but I've realize I could use more chibis and I've been staring at the same tileset for years now. I have a list of what I need somewhere, but really anything that meshes with the FF3/FFL/FFA aesthetic can be put to use. Can get more specific if you need more, but no worries either way :)

And I'm still grabbing stuff from the spritesheet you contributed a while back, was a huge help. So thank you again, in case I did't say so.
I don't know which ATB options RPG Maker MV offers, but please choose an ATB system that features an automatic wait function, if possible. Not just to grant me time and composure to admire your artwork, but mostly because I'm getting too old to rush through menus. Well, not really, but less hectic means more fun to my mind. :)

I'm the opposite, but automatic wait is a given considering the way the job menu's gonna shake out. If I can figure our those gauges, grrrr.
