A Promise of Love by mjshi
Length: ~10 minutes

As far as games go, there's not a whole lot you can fit into a 10 minute long game. A lot of free horror games you can find usually do not last much longer than that, and it can be a problem for some. If I'm going to play a game that's very short, I'd at least expect a good short story and maybe some gameplay beyond ''key there, go get, unlock doors'' Luckily, A Promise of Love delivers a lot of good in less than 10 minutes!

The graphics are mostly the rpg maker xp rtp with a few tiles from Pixel Art World thrown in, which is fine. At least the mapping's good, and that one CG is quite well drawn, though her fingers look a little weird. There's little to no music in the game with only one looping ambience track which fits the mood of the game quite well and a song for the memory section.

Why do you have a bed in your kitchen, though? 0.0

Gameplay is simple, you go around interacting with things causing cutscenes to appear. However, I liked how almost everything in the game could be interacted with, even the trees and flowers! This is a nice addition that makes the game stand out a little more, and I wish more games did the whole ''you can interact with almost everything'' thing, because this is basically as good as interaction is going to get in an rpg maker game considering we can't have Amnesia's object carrying mechanic (which is a shame because that's so fun to mess around with)
The story is quite similar to Dear Mariko in vein. It's about a yandere, and that's pretty much all I can say without spoilers, though that's already quite spoilery. They leave some of the story for you to figure out, but it's done well in a way that everything comes together in the end and it's quite shocking! The dialogue is also well written and the slight wittiness of the main character really makes me grow to like him, especially with his stories about Mr Kim and such. Other than that, though, there's nothing particulary interesting about the characters, which is fair enough considering the game is 10 minutes long.

This guy probably wouldn't like rpg horror games if he thinks THAT'S dark.

Overall, if you have 10 minutes to spare, why not give this game a go? It has a good story and the gameplay's quite nice. I give it four oddly placed beds out of five.

Thank you very much for taking the time write a review, Frogge!

And woah, 4/5? You're too kind xD Though, granted, you're grading relatively here. I imagine it took you longer to write this review than to play this game, haha. (Fun fact: Libby ran through this in her event wrap-up livestream in like 4 minutes ._.)

I made this game back when I couldn't draw hands. I can sort of draw hands now, but only at certain angles. So I guess I still can't really draw hands... I'm working at it, though. Someone once told me that the only way to get good at drawing hands is to keep drawing hands until they stop looking like spaghetti.

The answer to the bed-in-the-kitchen question is that the corner looked a little lonely and I'd already used a couch so I plopped a bed in there to be its friend ^^

You're welcome! The story was really decent and the idea of being able to interact with pretty much everything was also good, so I thought a 4/5 was fitting.

The hands look ok, just a tad strange. Oh, and, why not a carpet? A bed still feels off to me, lol.

I'm glad you liked the review ^^
