Character Introductions: Lucien
Got another character introduction for you all! ^_^
Lucien is a Holy Knight of Zerymos who will come into contact with Ceaira and Felise by chance during his quest to thwart the looming demonic invasion.
Alban, Durant's father, noticed Lucien's talent for both swordplay and fire ether, and had Lucien trained as a Holy Knight. There were high hopes that one day Lucien could become a powerful demon slayer.
Even though Alban has passed on, Lucien still carries on his will and continues to polish his skills in order to fell any demonic foe that dares invade the holy lands.
Lucien is proficient with the sword and is able to unleash powerful fire-based special attacks, as well as fire/holy support abilities that raise his power and give him health regeneration.

Character Introductions: Durant (Plus Music and Battle UI Progress!)
We've got some battle UI and music updates! :DDDDDD Before all of that, though, let's first introduce another character!
Durant is the acting regent of Zerymos and leader of the Holy Knights. When demons invade a seemingly abandoned old castle in his territory, he handles the matter personally, taking his two best knights, Lucien and Sela, along with him. He has no idea of the revelations that await inside the ancient estate.
Before Durant mastered his holy swordskills, his father waged war on the demons of the cursed land of Daraskus. His father managed to slay the demon lord, but even he could not cleanse the land of its foul curse, and Daraskus remains a land tainted by the Abyss.
Durant's goal is to one day unite all lands under the control of Zerymos so he will have the power to do what his father could not and completely scour the world of demons once and for all, but he is still far from that goal. While most nations in the world show some respect to his order of Holy Knights, few are willing to bow to Zerymos's will, much less to assist Durant with his mission.
Durant is a powerful character, and commands a potent array of both offensive and healing holy powers. He will lead Sela and Lucien in the very early part of the game, but don't count on him as a playable character for long, as events in the story will render him bedridden for a good portion of the story.
Back to the game's progress, things are coming along at a decent pace. SweetCat has been making more awesome music tracks for the game! Check out these three! ^_^
And JosephSeraph has been doing amazing work putting together the battle UI! Here's a work in progress GIF of the battle system:
I am super excited with all this progress! We'll work hard to keep it going! ^_^

Hello everyone.
I'm afraid I have some unfortunate news. I'm being laid off from my job and will soon be unemployed. Without a steady source of income, I cannot afford to continue commissioning Jo for his beautiful tilesets and character sprites. On top of that, I was also hoping to hire a scripter in the future to add a bit of flair here and there, which will of course also cost money.
This project is a remake of my favorite game I ever attempted to make and is very dear to me, so I don't plan on giving up on it. If it comes down to it, I may try a Kickstarter someday down the line to fund the game.
Wonderful pic of Ceaira by JosephSeraph. Thanks so much, Jo!
For the meantime, however, I'm afraid the only thing I can do is put the game on hiatus until things hopefully improve. A huge thanks to each and every one of you that have been following the game so far, and to Jo and Sooz for such wonderful work. I won't let it go to waste! We will be back!

JoSeraph, Sooz and I are slowly but surely getting work done for this game. We've still got a ways to go, but lets introduce another character ^_^
Included is her in-battle pose! Jo's been getting to these and they're looking great! ^_^
Felise is a free-spirited adventurer who travels the world looking for ruins of the old world and relics held within. Her passion is to see as much of the world as possible and find her true love in the process. Originally a priestess of the temple of Thanala, where some of the oldest texts in the world have been preserved, Felise felt restricted by the priestess lifestyle and left as soon as she was able.
Optimistic, curious and flirty, Felise lives for adventure and romance. The rest of the world considers her an oddball, but she never lets this get to her. Her companion is Dizzy, a bat-like creature that she found on an early adventure.
Dizzy is her cute but not-too-bright sidekick!
Felise and Dizzy are the first to find Ceaira when she escapes from the Sealed Ruins, and they become fast friends. But they all get caught up in something bigger when a Holy Knight from Zerymos finds them.
Felise is a decent attacker (tho technically she attacks by pointing at enemies and having Dizzy bite them). Her time as a priestess allows her to use her innate Water and Earth powers to heal and support the party.
Click the hide-tag below for a sneak-peak of the dungeon where Ceaira, Felise and Dizzy meet! :D And, as always, a huge thanks to JosephSeraph for his amazing tileset and character sprite work! <3

As we progress with the project and get assets for characters completed, I'd like to introduce them to you, one by one! We've got nine main characters, so this might take a little while. Your patience is much appreciated!
While Eye of Uzola has mostly what you'd call an ensemble cast, the closest we have to a main character is Ceaira.
Trapped in the Sealed Ruins for as long as she can remember, Ceaira's only companions were the odd shadow-beings that sprout from the ancient floors. In her dreams she was haunted by a strange entity that whispers of a fallen god, the world beyond, and Ceaira's fate.
Everything changed when the giant sealed door to the outside mysteriously opened. As she stepped through, she was warped to an unfamiliar place, the outside world that the rest of humanity inhabits. She met Felise, a very strange Ruins Hunter with the desire to see the world, and their adventure began.
But Ceaira's freedom was not intentional, and the Holy Knights of Zerymos are dispatched to fix that mistake. Will she be able to survive long enough to find the truth of why she was sealed away for so long?
Awesome sketch of Ceaira by Joseph Seraph :DDDD
Ceaira is shy, withdrawn, and naive about the world around her, but she has a kind heart and a love for books and languages. Ceaira is one of the two offensive mages in the game (the other being Urien). Unlike Urien, she's not a well-studied mage and has instead been self-taught and does most casting by intuition. Her specialty is the forbidden Infernal magic she seems to be able to do naturally.
Click here for a sneak-peek at the Sealed Ruins where Ceaira is trapped at the beginning of the game, still a work in progress, with amazing pixel tileset art by Jo! :D

Looking Back at the First Version of this Project
First off, a huge thanks to everyone who's been checking out the page, subscribing and leaving comments! I'm so happy that people are excited about this game ^_^
As a mentioned in the summary, the first version of this game was started with RPG Maker 2000 back when I was a teenager. About a year or so after I started Chase for Divinity, I began developing this game.
Like many beginners, I had a problem with scope. I wanted the game to be absolutely huge! I had a big imagination, and I kept coming up with characters and dumping them into the world, and all their stories kept delaying the actual main story I wanted to tell.
I didn't understand how to make everything neatly tie into the main plot, so the plot would be put on the backburner while you went about solving another particular characters' problems. This ended up making the main plot feel disjointed and destroyed any sense of tension.
Working together with Sooz, we've taken the plot and cut out all the unnecessary fluff and extra characters that were padding out the game without contributing to the main plot.
With all that said, I thought I'd reminisce about the old, uncompleted version and share some screenshots. I'll leave them under a hide-tag here to save room.
The game had an unnecessary prologue with a fake main character who died at the end of the prologue. At the time, I thought I was very clever, introducing someone you would assume to be the main character and killing him off after the tutorial dungeon, but unfortunately his death has very little meaning in the overall plot, so he won't be appearing in the new version.
Dear unity of the past: That's not how rugs work!
Ah, the old Breath of Fire 2 town tilesets. The first version of the game had rips, and lots of them! Back then, I took whatever I could find, and, if it worked, I used it.
Not to worry though. The new one will be 100% original tilesets ^_^
There were a lot of big, open spaces, making boring maps that felt amateurish and often took longer than needed to navigate.
Dungeons were too long as well, taking on maze-like qualities that extended the run-time and had you fight too many of the same battles over and over as you tried to figure out which way to go.
At one point, you have to take a detour into a futuristic alternate dimension that had almost zero to do with the main plot. I guess I threw it in because I had an idea for it, so why not? It doesn't really fit with the main story though so it won't be in the new version.
More rug failure and oh my that's a lot of skulls! XD
There were also heal/save points that were ripped from Final Fantasy 4 >.<;;;
The Holy Empire's main tower was originally made with Terranigma rips (before I even knew what Terranimga was!) Go figure!
Well, that's enough for the RPG Maker 2000 Old Shame Hour. Next time, I'll be bringing you character bios with their concept art (drawn by Sooz) and their character sprites (drawn by Jo)!
Thanks and I hope to see you then! :DDDDD
