Good first step

The Inn is a short indie game made with RPG Maker MV. This was the developer's first game, so it's always good to keep your first experience with something short and simple.

There's only a couple of maps in the game, I think 5, if I remember correctly. Each one seems to be decently mapped. The forest map that you start on is actually very well done. Though I thought the second floor of the inn was too generic. But overall this wasn't a terrible game to look at.

There is a small amount of combat in the basement room of the inn. The random encounters are set really high for some reason. If you want to fight the demon you just need to interact with the casket. The demon can be defeated without leveling up if you just use your healing spells correctly, so the random encounters were sort of unnecessary.

I didn't even talk to this girl the first time I played.

If you want to beat this game just go up stairs to interact with the book, then immediately go to the basement to fight the demon. The game tells you information like you know it. I interacted with that book without being asked to, but the dialogue mentions that I was asked to do it. There's practically no control switches requiring you to have certain information before progressing in the game. The inn is filled with people, and it's up to you if you want to talk to them are not. The important parts of the story will be told by the inn keeper for the most part (I won't spoil it here, since the story isn't that long.)

Overall, this game is a decent attempt at getting to know the ins and outs of the engine. There's no real challenge in the game and there's nothing to force you into doing things in a particular way. There's probably a lot more substance that could be added to a game that was about an inn (ie. serving orders, checking guests into their rooms, etc... These are the sorts of things you could do to unlock more parts of the story.) I'm going to leave this game unrated, but I'll make sure to unleash my inner fury if I review a game of yours in the future.

thank you for an honest review ^^

considering my knowledge of the rpg maker (aka learning-while-i-was-making-this), i am very happy you consider the final outcome decent. i am very aware that right now, my game making skills don't deserve much higher praise. as for the things you mention the game is lacking, they are pretty much all caused by the fact that i don't know how to add them - switches, things you suggest for the inn and unlocking some stuff, etc xD

and as for the inner fury, i hope that when i make my next game, it will be better, so there won't be need for the fury of any kind :P
