When I first started, I tried to mimic the style used for Square Enix's games. but Karsuman is also right. You have to develop your own style so that, if someone sees your art, they'll say "Hey! That's Sam!" instead of "Hey! It's a DBZ fanboy!" (Wasn't being offensive by this, but I have seen people say this. You catch my drift, right?)
