Starting up a new project... in?

I dunno, I have only used MMF for platformers, I have seen RPGs created from it and they exceed the so called limitations. All I am suggesting is you look into MMF and create your own systems. It may take a little work, but in the end you will be proud of your effort. Also MMF has great support and an active community.

There are other programs out there that require limited coding. RPGtoolkit is one of them as well as iKa, and Sphere. While these are old programs they all offer a bit more freedom than the RM engines. But if you want to branch out you are going to need to sit down and learn another program theres no easy way around that unless you have some experience in coding. If you do however want to make a serious game with a very flexible program I recommend you look into Multimedia Fusion. Before I actually learned to code I looked into MF and a network compatibility problem I would have stuck with it. Look into Multimedia Fusion you may pay some money but all in all you are getting a nice piece of software that allows you to make multiple game styles and genres.

What is with producers' aversion to one-off series? Like, why don't we see short series or single season shows...outside of the UK, I guess.

I'm guessing simply because "they want to satisfy their fan base" or in reality greed. If you have an idea, in the case of Heroes, "milk it til it dies". This attitude is something I really can not stand when it comes to series.

Anyways I don't like Fillers, simply because they are stereotyped in my mind as having poor stories, weak visual design, and in the case of Naruto, I can't stand his voice for prolonged periods of time.
