Help with Variables
Is there any way to have a common event constantly check a hero's level (parallel process) and have it so that when a hero levels up, it adds +1 to a variable without having it constantly loop? I'm pulling my hair out on this one. Please help.

How to implement a timing key press event
I'm trying to implement an event where (take for example) you have a bar that goes from left to right. On the bar it has a small green area while the rest of the bar is red. Then you also have a marker moving from left to right and you have to press a certain key while the marker is in the green section to make the event work.
I'm using RM 2K3 btw. I tried using pictures to simulate it and got up to having the marker move along the bar. I just don't know how to make it so that you can press a certain key at the right time.

How do you like your hero?
I don't know if this has been discussed much but I'm a little curious as to what type of hero you guys prefer?
The silent protagonist?... Where his fellow members carry out the conversations and story or one that has his own opinion? Or maybe you prefer a hero who has amnesia or lost his memory and has no clue who he is until the story unfolds? Maybe the less heroic type?
Truthfully, I prefer the heroic "save the world" type hero. But that's just me.

Need help with skill system
Im trying to make a skill tree system where the player can choose what skills to learn. One of the skills I'm having a hard time making is a passive skill that if the player chooses to learn it, that it checks to see when the player has a shield on, it adds an additional 10 DEF on top of what the shield would normally give, and if the player takes the shield off, it takes off the 10 DEF.
I tried doing conditional branches, variables, and a parrallel process common event to check if the player has a shield equipped, but every time he has it equipped, his DEF goes all the way up to 999 because of the common event in a parallel process. any ideas? Im using RM2k3 btw.

Hey everybody
Well I've been roaming around RMN for about a month or so and have finally decided to register. Anyways I'm from California and a lot of my friends call me Havoc(hence the name) and yes I am a bboy (breakdancer... go figure :D). When I'm not breaking, I play a ton of video games.I've been playing video games since I can remember. My favorite type of games, of course are RPGs. My all time favorites so far has been FF4 and Chrono Trigger both for their superb storyline. New games today just don't seem to have as lush a story as "Old School" games IMO.
Also, I just started making my first ever RPG using RM 2k3 called Lucadia:Genesis. It's more a traditional old-school type of storyline with great character development. Hopefully I can provide a demo soon.
Anyways, it seems like there are a lot of helpful people here and hopefully one day I can help contribute somehow.

Falling Event
I need help trying to figure out how to make my character keep going down (like he's falling) but be able to move left and right at the same time. That way he can avoid obstacles and collect items at the same time.
I'm using RM 2k3 and using a parallel process event to keep my character moving down but it wont allow me to move him left and right. I've also tried doing a Key Input process to move left and right but if I do that my character will stop moving down. Any ideas?
