Anyone have any advice on beating the last boss and/or clearing the bottomless pit (similar to paper mario)?

It's been a while, so I don't know how useful I can actually be. Just know that Zen is a very powerful character and keeping him alive is very beneficial. Setting his health to 1 to be temporarily invisible is always good, just make sure you heal him up before it wears off!

Make sure you use all of the characters abilities to your advantage (I think the max level for all characters is 5). Quart's preparation if very useful in the final boss. Also take advantage of the shop in Reden with free small heals and point restores. Those are very useful for healing in the pit after fights, so stock up to 99 of each before you go.

Hope this helps some!

Hey, Beanallean. I've only played about a half hours worth so far, but I'm absolutely digging this game from the bottom of my heart. The soundtrack and art are gorgeous, I actually found myself dancing a little to the music without even realizing it. In fact, I've already recommended it to my room mate.

I found two small errors though- The description for the Eyelid item mistakenly calls PP MP, and the Kitten Shirt's description runs off of the side of the screen at the word "selling". Other than that the game is fantastic!

Yeahhh there's actually more typos than I'm proud to admit. I get really into making games but can't stand the polish portion. If you haven't already you should follow the game, I'm currently working on a sequel which will have more emphasis on the story. It'll also be made in game maker, which I'm a bit more well versed in, so it will probably look and play better too. One thing I really want to do is add Paper mario action commands to make battles more interesting and varied.

Anyways, glad you liked it, also glad you liked my wacky music choice. :D

Wow, this was refreshing and interesting. I love the whole Moonside vibe to the entire game, and found the whole thing fun. I also saw at least one Homestar Runner reference in there. I love H*R and have let slip at least a few references in my own games myself XD

Thanks! I might soon retry this game in a program I'm more familiar with because I don't like the gameplay a whole lot, but really like the visuals. I'll put a news article here if I start it, so make sure to subscribe if you haven't already.

The first thing I thought while looking through the screenshots were "Welcome to Moonside".
The second thing I thought was "I'm gonna play this".

;D Glad you like the visuals

Well this looks different from what I've been playing lately, and I'm currently searching for a change of pace, so I'll give this one a go. I'll probably review unless I find a game-breaker or something of that nature in which case I'll drop a comment.

Edit: Ok found a glitch. I'll probably include it in the review unless you upload an amended version before I finish and write it up, as it's something other players should avoid and they may not read the comments. If you use the 'optimise' option in the equipment menu your HP/PP gets reduced to the base. You don't lose the higher total it just drops your current HP/PP to what each character had when you first meet them.

From my minimal knowledge, I don't think that's fixable. It happens because HP and PP are increased by armor, and when you re-equip them they set the HP/PP to their set number, but never to full health. It sucks.

Really? That's what I had assumed at first but I couldn't find where to go next so I thought that was the proper path :S

I'll look around some more.

You have to go back into one of the houses (I've forgotten, but I believe it's the bottom right one) and go into the back room to fight the boss, which also leads to the next area underground.

I love it when an RPG goes for a different art style and setting, so already there you caught my attention more than most. I played up until the dungeon that just had a lot of floors with single fights, mainly because I didn't feel like going through them. Probably I'll go back and finish the game some time but I mean, that's kinda a bad/lazy idea for a dungeon, don't you think? There's a lot of pretty cool stuff here otherwise, though.

Thanks! The place where you are is an optional area that I threw in. So you don't need to go back there to progress.

A cool game. I feel like it's a little confused as to what it wants to be though. Part of it feels like a mysterious, surreal, and atmospheric game based mainly off of the lack of initial direction and emphasis on exploring. But it also feels like a cutesy game game with upbeat music. It's very difficult to pull off both of those things in one game. One random thing that's pretty easy to do and could help your game feel a bit more alive is giving the NPCs some more variability in movement. They feel very robotic and scripted when the wander back and forth on the same path and never stop to take a breath.

Other than that, the visuals are great! Really crisp and nice to look at. I only played for about 10 minutes, so these are my first impressions. I'll definitely play more later today though. Curious to see what else there is to see.
