CHERRYBOMB'S PROFILE

I enjoy RPGs and hombrew, although I can't really enjoy playing them like I did when I was younger.

I'm here for the community, which I enjoy.

I need your opinion.

I dunno. If you want your game to be challenging, then I'd nix the auto-save. Auto-save nerfs difficulty many times, i.e. Half Life. Not fake difficulty, like insta-death or the like, but actual difficulty involving strategy and powerful opponents.

Angry Video Game Nerd

AVGN FAQ
Q: That game's not that bad, you're whining about it, just because you suck at it!

A: Remember this is for comedy. Sure my gripes with the games stem from truth, but they are exaggerated. The whole point is to play bad. If you want to see somebody play good, go watch a speed run. If you take my reviews seriously, you are missing the whole point. Think for yourself. I may actually like some of the games I'm complaining about. I only focus on the negative. Some of my complaints may be legit and others far fetched. To this day, I still get long winded emails bitching about my Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest review, describing every last detail why they disagree with my video. Meanwhile, I'm just laughing my ass off. It was just a quick little video I made one night when I was bored, just for a little joke, and there's real “Angry Nerd's” getting mad about it, which is sad, pathetic and hilarious! The same people probably believe that I go around in real life, wearing a white pressed shirt, stuffed with pens in the pocket, and saying “fuck” all the time and talking about buffallos taking diarrhea dumps.

But, if I turn off these headphones I can hear

Jesus of Suburbia ~Green Day.

Challenging the Standards

Oh, I get it. So all Final Fantasies have the same plot, but they have different stories.

Or perhaps not, since Square loves to whack itself off so much. :)

SkyE

Oh, wow. I just watched that trailer.

See, FPS are my first love. Sidescrollers are the next best thing and I want to play this no matter how short or how mangaka desu ne it is. :O

Challenging the Standards

I never played any of this Saga nonsense. :(

How are 'plot' and 'story' different? I dunno what term to use, but when it comes to my stories/plots I tend to not plan them out completely before even starting a project. I kind of wade into RPG Maker and begin to build different things here and there and make it up as I go along. "Oh, this sounds cool." "I've never thought of something like this." "This sounds completely original. Oh wait, someone already did it." --Those are a few of my thoughts when putting together some story.

It seems nowadays that games, both professional and indie, have stopped their story development somewhere around when Final Fantasy became popular. There is so much of the same thing floating around that sometimes I really can't think of anything "new" because all I know how to do is 'edit' something previously made, contrive one or two 'unique features' and call it "rollloloz, custam gaem!"

...Uh, tl;dr: People copy what makes money too much.

I... I never really thought about it. Maybe this says something about me; I don't care where the money comes from as long as it is money.

I must confess-- I play RPG Maker games with one finger while laying my head on my desk at a 90 degree angle to the screen. I tap Enter and sometimes reach for Esc in between sips of Code Red Dew and bites of Cheezits.

I've forgotten my original point, so I'll say this: Don't change something that has worked for decades just to be "different."

I need your opinion.

Why not both? You can lose a player that forgets to save. He might never play your game again!

Aha, but isn't that the punishment they recieve for being inattentive?

...No, I get it. If I was going to implement that into my game, I'd give them the option to choose between... or both, if that is preferable.

Simple, Good or Bad

I wouldn't say simple is bad, just boring.
