[RMMZ] How to disable battle HUD while using show text command
Hey guys! I'm trying to make a tutorial battle for my game. What I'd like to do is have text explaining what everything does while I have an arrow picture pointing to whatever I'm talking about. However whenever I use the show text command in the troop event the HUD disappears; does anyone know of a way to have text show in a battle without the normal HUD disappearing? I've seen some plugins for MV that fix this but none for MZ. I'd really appreciate some help solving this!
Favorite version of RPG Maker?
Hey guys! There's 6 major versions of RPG Maker that are widely used (2k, 2k3, XP, VX Ace, MV and MZ) and they all have advantages and disadvantages. Personally I like 2k for smaller projects as I love the simple Dragon Quest style battle system and assets aren't hard to make given the small size. There's also no scripting so it's hard for scope creep to take hold, that said, MZ is the best for bigger games IMO just due to the sheer amount of features and scripting allowing for a lot more flexibility. I was wondering what versions of the engine you prefer for your projects and why?

I've seen Theia savefiles with more than 50 hours put on them. That said, I don't exactly know.
Theia: The Crimson Eclipse is incredible. I played that game all the way through (well, actually 4/5ths of the way through before losing my save to computer shenanigans) and I was utterly blown away by how polished and creative the game was, especially the story. If it wasn't for the ripped music it would easily pass as commercial in my eyes.
Recently Watched Movies
I watched Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse around a month ago in theaters. I was visiting my grandmother and we were supposed to see the Mario Movie; however they weren't showing it anymore at that point so we saw that movie instead. It was actually really good and I greatly enjoyed it despite not having seen the previous movie and knowing very little about Spiderman in general.
I also watched Paul Blart: Mall Cop like a week ago. They were selling it at Goodwill for $2 and I figured I'd watch it just for the meme.

Looking for a short, easy rpg with a lot of really good dialogue to feel passionate about.
I just played Last Quest IV (you should be able to find it in the games section), it's a very simple and short (around 40 mins I'd say to beat it) RM2K game that has pretty funny dialogue imo. That may be something up your alley.

Slip into Ruby part 2 - Making a Scene

When you say "this isn't working" what's not happening that should, or happening that shouldn't?
I'm not OP but I have a similar problem. When I put in:
class Scene_Bestiary < Scene_MenuBase
def start

end
end
Upon opening the project: it said: TypeError occurred, undefined superclass "Scene_MenuBase". I'm using XP instead of VX Ace so I figured this was a compatibility error, I looked around in the other default scripts and figured Scene_Menu was basically the same thing, so I put in:

However now when I run SceneManager.call(Scene_Bestiary) it says: NameError occurred while running script. Uninitialized constant Interpreter::Scene_Manager. I figure it's another compatibility error but I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong.

That makes sense, thank you! I'm currently using 2k3 (because I'm poor and like retro things lol) so I'll see if that's possible there, but if not, I'll move up to a more recent version. (possibly XP)
XP goes on sale frequently and is very easy to obtain by... unintended means (wink wink) so if you can't afford the newer makers that's a good option. It also has scripting through RGSS so it has dramatically more possibilities then 2k or 2k3.
