I'm working on my first game in RPG Maker 2000!

Plan out your game! Let me say that again, PLAN OUT YOUR GAME!!! RPGs are typically very heavy on content and you really don't want to burn out or write yourself into a corner 250 hours into developement. Plan out what your story is going to be, who is your hero? What is he doing? What conflicts does he/she/ze face? Also plan out your gameplay, what enemies, mechanics, weapons do you want? Also make sure RPG Maker is right for your game. If you're making a staightforward Dragon Quest/FF style RPG then RM will fit like a glove for you. However if you're trying to make a game like Xenoblade Chronicles... I'd look elsewhere. Hope that helps a bit!

If you want to play PS1 I would just get the original. It would probably be more nostalgic and I've seen them going for ~$30. You could just burn the games onto CD-R and do that disc swapping trick to play them.

Hello! I've been trying to make my first game in RPG Maker 2000 but I've encountered a major issue, you need a lot of assets to make an RPG and I'm not very good at art. Since I don't want to invest the thousands of hours it would take to get good at pixel art and since I have like no money to buy any (I'm 15 lol) I figured I'd look online. However most resources that I can find are formatted for XP/VX/MV/MZ and I can hardly find any at all for 2k/2k3. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find some free assets formatted properly or how to change ones made for other engines to work in 2000 (I tried stretching in Paint to the dimensions it said to use but it still didn't work). Thanks!
