It's hard to confirm anything since, technically, both games end at the exact same moment! But it doesn't matter either way, since it's a symbolic gesture to everyone in the universe. You know, true immortality.

The episodes are over! They started in 2010, and all 5 (or 6 rather) are packaged together in the download. Currently no plans to start on another.

SPOILERS, seriously, don't click this:
One of the themes is quality of life versus sheer length. Society on a whole got so focused on longevity that they ended up doing nothing with it until they got jerked out of their torpor. So, I would say Mahk ended up with a happy ending after all.
As for Ros, he manages to save the physical universe and bring peace to it at the same time, thanks to the whole "great power and great responsibility" inevitability. All things considered, that seems happy enough!

It has to do with your dialog choices at the start of the mission. You'll know when you're on the right path.

He does end up living happily ever after, so it's not so tragic. Sometimes, being marooned on an alien planet is what a guy needs.

The frame is sticking out of the ground on the "beach" quest map. It's repeatable. I think it's in a little alcove area away from the ocean.

Some offhand coordinates mentioned on a console in the abandoned research facility. You probably need a fairly high card level to reach it since it's only accessible in Episode 4.
