Judging Judges

June of 2014, eh? I'm actually going to be leaving for a two-year mission for my church in August, so that probably means that I can't take the job. If it were pushed back to an earlier date, such as May or April, I would gladly help with the judging.

Pokémon RMN Version

I apologize for my absence in the past few weeks. I just spent about thirty minutes skimming through the 41 pages of discussion, and I managed to find Ratty's description of the potential villain. While somewhat generic at face-value (as most villains are), I really think that the character you've created will make the game quite enjoyable. In the recent pokemon games, the main villains have lacked truly evil motives, and have instead focused on lame schemes, such as "liberating pokemon from their trainers". This is why the pursuit of "world domination" - while being cliche by nature - will add a unique flavor to this game, and make it that much more memorable.

I also appreciated his creative back-story, and the way it ties into the regular pokemon game template. And I'm honored by the way you integrated Pozitron into it.

Don't give up on this idea.

EDIT: Now that I've mentioned Pozitron, do you still need me to revise his look? If he does make the cut in the back-story, I want him to look more impressive. If you'd rather redesign him yourself, or are satisfied with the design, that's fine, too.

Pokémon RMN Version

I just submitted my first pokemon! Here's a rough example of what he looks like:

Are mega-evolutions supported? I'm surprised no one has asked this yet!

Desmo360's Playthrough (World 9 & Extra Videos)

Thanks for the feedback, Hali! While being very discouraging, it did offer some useful advice that I will definitely apply in the future. Here's my feedback to your feedback:

First up, the webcam. This series really didn't need one.

I wasn't a fan of the webcam either. It set limits on how far I was able to take the editing, and also caused a few audio problems for me. This series was more or less a trial run for the webcam anyway, and I'll likely revert back to my handy, unobtrusive animations in the future.

Your overblown reactions didn't save it for me, either. It just looked like you were putting on a big show.

In post editing I did notice this as well; my reactions were a bit large, and that might have had something to do with being on camera. But I never inflated my reactions on purpose. What you saw was legit.

Next, your commentary. It needs some work. The vast majority of it is all related to you in some way.

This is the probably the most valuable bit of advice I'll take away from this. I'll admit that it is easier to talk about what I know; which happens to be myself. The issue with delving into deeper topics is that they distract me from gameplay. Perhaps I just haven't mastered the skill of multi-tasking yet.

A Let's Player doesn't need to be commentating for every single moment.

I disagree. Silent moments in an LP, while necessary at times, need to be short and rare. This is what I've learned from observing other LP-ers.

The Desmo Show

I disagree. My videos are uploaded to a YouTube channel, so they are technically a show, and Desmo is the producer.

The little story you built at the end of each video was a nice touch. You're clearly willing to put in the effort to make these enjoyable. Just try to be more conscious of what you're doing and how it affects the end result.

Congratulations on being the first to mention those! I was convinced that no one really cared for them, and I wasn't going to bother with creating them in the future. Thanks again for the honest feedback! Perhaps tomorrow I'll have enough time to crank out some bonus videos.

You know people, you can suggest things to feature on the frontpage. Incidentally, I was going to feature a Desmo360 SMW video anyway, but then I watched ep. 21 where he complains so much about not being featured.

Thanks, Kentona! The recognition is truly motivating! Also, I had no idea that you could suggest videos, and I'll wager that I'm not the only one! So, good job on educating the community!

Aaaaaaand you overlooked Pyth again.
Whoops! I'll make it a point to read that in Episode 26.

Yeah, 124,000 push-ups to be exact.
Are the final levels really that hard?

More words does not a greater novel make. Don't drag it out or belabor plot points just for length's sake! Though I'm sure you already know well enough not to. :3
With such a specified number, I'm convinced it's a requirement.

80,000 words is a rough estimation of how long the book will be, based on content. If I did drag it out, I would easily be able to get 120,000 words. But length isn't the objective.

episode 23 is absent from youtube and rmn page.

It'll be up tomorrow. I've been putting a lot of my time into the book I'm writing. I want it to be about 80,000 words, and its due in February. (Lets just say that I'm nowhere near 80,000 words)

In the meantime, you could attempt to write an 80,000 word book.

You probably wouldn't make it to 1,000.

Its tough.

Leave me alone.

Please and thank you.

Brickroad is the best.

You can make it up to me by picking either 2,3 or 7....

author=jackalotrun
btw 7

What is this for? And is it too late to pick 7? If so, then 3.

Also, I posted the origin of my username on your thread.
