DOZEN'S PROFILE

As I said before, Kyouki and I have the same mental condition. This is the part when I'd ramble about how bad that is and how I got screwed over to suck up some sweet sympathy, but this time, I'm dropping that. Because, in all honesty, the worst part of my disorder(For me, anyway) is that I get unhealthily low on the mood if I'm ingored or hated. Or when I just think I'm ignored or hated, which happens a lot.
That's it.
I'm happy if people help me, but that help can go to places where it's needed more. Kyouki doesn't have it that easy. You see, she lives in Japan. You may or may not see the connection here, but Japan can turn a plain "getting my dayly hug quota so I won't succumb to depression" kind of thing into a very serious business.
The actual example is not provided by me; The credits go to Shoko. And, consequently, to Marrend. The comparison will be Hanako from Katawa Shoujo. From what I got from Marrend's comments in the files, I think Shoko has a milder case of Social Anxiety Disorder with a penchant for Catatonia(that is, freezing in place or becoming slow and robotic when overwhelmed with problems your mind can't solve. I get that a lot, too. I've developed some tricks to fool my head and weasel out of it, if you're interested. I know it sucks hard and I'd be happy to help if I can.) which she got post-trauma. (I'm not a certified doctor or anything, so don't take my word on it.) The thing is, Anxiety Disorders rarely develops in the Japanese. Instead, they have Taijin Kyofusho, a disorder which occurs pretty much in Japan and it's close vicnity only. The symptoms are the same, the causes are the same, but the reason itself for acting abnormal is different. People with TKS only care if they will offend, hurt or bother others, while people with AD also afraid of getting hurt themselves. But why is that? The brains of the Japanese and other people work the same way, so why is there any difference?
Easy. Japanese people are all about social status. And, if they think, feel or get told they aren't up to par, it will change how they think of themselves. This is why, while Shoko maintains a decent self-esteem, Hanako thinks of herself as a worthless piece of trash. I'm guessing Shoko's friends were understanding, so she got the less severe, 'western' type of the disorder(If it was part of her story, that is; Marrend got it because he isn't Japanese, plain and simple. If he has that at all. I might be saying bullshit, but I have to make a point here somehow.), while Hanako got the 'Japanese Edition'. And since Hanako doesn't worth shit in her opinion, why would she care if people hurt her? She inevitably does, of course, but that just make her think she's selfish. No, Hanako's afraid her unworthy self will be a burden for everyone else.
This usually doesn't affect the disorders themselves, but doesn't change the fact that mentally ill people who live in Japan have it hard. In a society that cares about status so much, something that get's you out of the grey millions in a negative way is terrible. Like I said, I'm not a doctor, so I'm just wildly guessing that Kyouki would end up as, somewhat contradicting her own disorder, shy due to that treatment. While I'm happy and willing to tell people about my problems, hoping they'll care about me more or at least overlook my quirks, Kyouki will go out of her way to certify that her disorder barely affects anything and nobody should care about it at all. Needless to say, she's lying, bold faced, but she has to, because she would have an even more harder time living through her life if she complained how much it sucks on ice. And, since she can't say anything, nobody helps her. So she inevitably ends up more and more off the track as time goes by. Her love route will involve the Player realizing there is, in fact, a huge problem, and help her go through it.

So what I need you to do? Aside from the testing you always do, pay attention so this get's portrayed properly. I'm but a human with my own faults. If Kyouki ever willingly complains about something, anything, it might be because I had a bad day when I wrote those lines. And even if not, I might still just think inside my little twisted box instead of Kyouki's little twisted box. Don't let that happen, because I'm careless enough to miss the point completely, even if I'm the one who specified it in the first place. 'Kay?:) With me?
