Design Musings and Inquiries...mostly Musings.
This is why I also suggested the dummy battle; it could be utilized for tutorials as well as getting a feel for the system or even trying out new things; give the player a chance to experiment if you will.
Design Musings and Inquiries...mostly Musings.
I did play some of the demo (up to the first boss), so a few of my thoughts on this
1) forced tutorials can be a pain, so an in game book of some sort would be great, plus it'd give players a chance to brush up on things, if for whatever reason they need to. Also, maybe an optional dummy/test/tutorial battle may serve some use.
2)While the table style dungeon is interesting, for some reason, I still prefer moving characters around in an area, but that's just me.

Eh? Why did you do 'dis? :O
Getting sick of the engine for one thing. The whole reason I even bothered with this in the first place was because I felt I owed it to myself to make something with SMBX, but in the end, it didnt feel very rewarding.

Just so we're straight, I think Kickstarter is a phase whose time will pass, so when the topic of discussion is the moral ethics behind the whole process, I tune out.
But the real thing to do was to notify Kickstarter of the rule violation and let them put his feet to the fire. Asking him personally to rescind it might have worked, but the results are clear now.
That's not a valid option since KS doesn't have that option.

My point is, I like what I see and am not swept up in this childish bitching about legal crankery some of you are so passionate about. If what you're seeing here really bothers you, go do something about it instead of whining in an RMN blog, hoping to shame the creator into throwing in the towel.
No, you've been swept up in the hype and BS of this game. Also, plenty of us TRIED to do something about it, but alas Sion has his head in the sand (seriously).

Fuck, I don't care.
It's still a good-looking game and I'll be playing it when it comes out.
You should count your eggs before they hatch.

And so it ends with this dude getting his money after all, despite dodging questions. I guess we should all learn from this example to sucker people.
My Thoughts

So... what's the intent here? Funding to make freeware, or do you intend on charging for this? You may need to make some adjustments to your game's profile is this isn't going to be freeware.
