Astoria: The Holders of Power Saga Review

You'll be missing out on a lot of good things with that kind of attitude. There are many legitimate positive reviews for this game, but what's even more important: Why don't you just play a game if you find it interesting? I mean: You can - and should - do what you want to do, but I'll never understand people who, for example, don't watch movies starring Tom Cruise just because of his involvement with Scientology. Such a behavior doesn't help anyone and doesn't solve the underlying, fundamental problem.

With regard to Liberty's review: I kind of understand her complaints. JRPGs requiring skill aren't everybody's cup of tea.

Astoria: The Holders of Power Saga Review

Thanks for the clarification (and sorry @ Liberty).

By the way: I love getting banned and circumventing bans, but I don't like to fight against an obviously tech-savvy staff. :D

So now that bigwig Liberty doesn't like the game, all reviews exhibiting a higher rating have to be removed?

Old/Lost RpgMaker Games - SegNin's Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic

Thanks for the insight, LordBlueRouge. This is the first time I hear about RMtool.exe, and it seems it isn't that easy to find via a simple google search. Provided this tool does what you describe, I'm looking forward to your upload + tutorial. Until then, maybe my master RTP folder can serve as a stopgap measure. Since I wasted a couple of hours on this (as you suspected), I want at least to test if it works.

Unfortunately, I've been around only for a few years, so I don't possess any original versions of these old RPG Maker games. Everything I found in this regard was through this terrific thread. I'm sorry I can't provide any meaningful help.

By the way: I played "Zephyrus And The Kingdom Of Heaven" a few months ago. You might want to edit the master list (it says "King" instead of "Kingdom"). Furthermore, it's likely that "Zephyrus Complete" is the exact same game, because it features the same download size. Might be worth investigating in order to not confuse any interested players.

Keep up the great work, keeper of amazing old times. :)

Old/Lost RpgMaker Games - SegNin's Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic

I downloaded "The Story Of The Earth And Star" from CentroRPG and finished it today. While it is pretty generic and suffers from horrible English (Misao 2005 Worst Dialogue Award), it is complete, of decent length and has its heart in the right place. Plus: It must be one of the few RPG Maker 2000 JRPGs (I don't know another apart from this one) that utilizes a side-view battle system. Since I enjoyed playing it, it should be worth preserving.

The CentroRPG version, though, lacks a huge amount of necessary resources. Even though RPG Maker 2000 is pretty forgiving in this regard (it accepts nearly all bullshit replacements as long as the file is generally compatible), I opted for a better solution. Fortunately, I own a legal copy of RPG Maker 2000, so I just inserted the missing resources. Feel free to add my "playable edition" to the master list (I will remove this download link as soon as one of the bigwigs attends to this matter):

Here's a detailed report of what I did:

Battle (inserted from the RPG Maker 2000 RTP; * means probably not needed, but inserted nonetheless just in case):
Absorption (Bite renamed)
Arrow*
Axe*
Barrier
cold (ice renamed)
Dark
Down (Debuff renamed)
Earth
etc (Other renamed)
Explosion
Fang (Claw renamed)
Fire1
Fire2
hit (Blow renamed)
Holy
Paralysis
Poison (Breath renamed)
Ray (Ressurection/Resurrection renamed)
spear
Sphere* (Treatment renamed)
Sun (Recovery renamed)
Sword1
Sword2*
Up (Buff renamed)
Water
Whip*
Wind
Zip* (Thunder renamed)

CharSet:
- Vehicle (inserted Vehicles from the RPG Maker 2000 RTP and renamed it)
- Inserted nearly everything else from the RPG Maker 2000 RTP to play it safe.

ChipSet: inner (inserted Interior from the RPG Maker 2000 RTP and renamed it)

Panorama:
- morning2 (inserted Sky2 from the RPG Maker 2000 RTP and renamed it)
- contains Evening1 and Evenin_g1 (they are both the same except for the name, but you need them both)

System: system01 renamed to system.

Remaining issues: Characters can only be seen during battles when attack animations play out.

Known (game-breaking) bug: When riding the ship to Asta and the Ghost Ship appears, a soldier now stands in front of the stairs in the ship's eastern part. He is supposed to block access to the stairs, but the player can still sneak past. Don't do this, though, because the game freezes on the way back.

Edit: Removed the download link to my "master RTP folder" because it doesn't work as intended (it's still required to manually copy & paste missing resources). And, of course, in order to avoid a potential lawsuit. :D

Lakria Legends is officially completed!

Great news, I'm really excited and looking forward to playing your game. Misao incoming (hopefully). :)

Astoria: The Holders of Power Saga

This seems to be a "popular" problem. :D

Quoting what GoldenUnicornGaming said on Steam: "Go back to Mihr, and walk south through the Gnollwood. Once out of the Gnollwood, you'll see the Dreadfort. Rickard and his camp are set up there."

Ara Fell Review

While I can understand your opinion, FarkasUrdung, I think you seem to have absurdly high expectations. Surely there isn't a well-polished RPG Maker (2003) JRPG comparable to Ara Fell that you would rate higher than 2.5 out of 5 stars, is there?

Also, it seems to me you haven't played/watched the free DLC epilogue yet that was released just a few days ago.

If I had to address something I didn't like with regard to Ara Fell, it would be the handling of the "getting stronger progression". A RPG Maker (2003) JRPG that is designed to be completed around level 30 and systematically prevents the player from buying stronger equipment (unless exploiting an earlier version bug like I did to get an infinite amount of money) doesn't satisfy my lust for getting stronger.

Note that this is just my personal taste. Since every other area of Ara Fell shows a lot of quality and effort, I can't take such a low score seriously. Maybe the game just wasn't for you. Let's move on.

Vindication

Going in a different direction was definitely a good idea. In case you ever need to find "Double Trouble 2: The Third" on the internet, now you know it's still somewhere out there. :)

Astoria: The Holders of Power Saga Review

This review is accurate and reflects my experience with the game. Paying a few bucks for a classic JRPG of this size should be a no-brainer.
