I apologize for the bump, but is the enhanced version ever coming? I've downloaded this two years ago, and I loved how it (flagrantly, at that) showed off how SMBX can make "combo" games. In fact, I actually included it, along with RMNB2 and Subcon Stars in a pack of 8 episodes I sent an IRL pal about one or two years back.

Does the "complete game bonus" apply when you mark a demo as newly completed, or does it only work if you submit a finished game from the start?

Include the SMBX game folder and replace the default mario/metroid sounds with Zelda sounds. I did that in my personal Zelda project and it sounds pretty sweet. The only limitation is that it can only play a sound effect for the length of time the original was. So if the new sound is longer it gets cut off.
I am amazed this game just didn't have all of its assets embedded as resources in the executable
Funny enough, some things actually are, like the Clown Copter, shoes, and HUD stuff. It's possible to hack them on a per-exe basis, but that applies to everything in SMBX, so it's best to just stick to theme mods like 8-bit, SMB3, etc.

90 percent sure you can make a Paragoomba act like a Parakoopa. Use the smb3 or SML2 brown ones, just not the red one.

If you used the "pop" animation of the Bits, I'll bet that effect would be fine. I think nin8halos made one in Subcon Hearts.

I don't think SMBX is suited to boss rushes of any appreciable difficulty. Perhaps we could look to other Zelda games for final dungeon inspiration.

Ghost of the last king of hyrule should help you in Ganon's Castle, I think.
For a game named after him, he is curiously absent so far.
For some reason I thought the title referred to Link.
