Nice try but I think many fans will be disappointed by this game.
Some points:

• Noone explains to you that mages can only learn 3 of 4 spells per spell level.
  Then they have no description and you buy spells like a lucky bag.
  You need 8000 exp to gain level 3!
  Madhorses next to the starting city? They are far too strong and give too low exp/gil in return. Same goes for big enemy groups (at least bigger than 4).
  You don't need the "5" hotkey, just press x.

I'm sorry but I will write everything you are complaining off in a walkthrough, posted here. Because only people who played final fantasy I (from nes) will totally know the spells. And the level that is displayed in the menu is wrong, you press 5 because experience is stored with variables, not with the default system. As I said before, you will need to run away frequently.

I have played the original game and know of the limited spells but they had a description on them. (At least the PS1 game)
I started to write a walkthrough for myself but it will take a while for me to even leave the starting area because it is really unfair to have the MadHorses there already.

So perhaps put in descriptions of the spells or write a list and explain them.

It's pretty much a hotfix, so most of the bugs I encountered, including yours, and some others have been patched.

On the issue of saves not loading, make sure to include your config.rpgsave and global.rpgsave in addition to importing your save files.

If that doesn't work, I pretty much have nothing else haha. By the way, do you have discord? If so, you can contact me in real time when you find something in the game. It's much less of a hassle that way!

Perhaps you can find a solution with this (I only changed the name of the folder for uploading).

And no, I have no discord.

I am stuck now in the underground tunnels at the boulder riddle.
I managed to go through the left side somehow but after defeating the bandit the next boulder won't move to the right.
The right side is not doable either since the boulder get stopped by a bandit.

Glich: When leaving the girls toilet you stand under the TV-screen to the left. (1st floor, left wing)
And in the conversation at the beginning of chapter 2 Aya speaks "obssessed". Remove one "s".
