So the bug is happening on user.title = utils.slugify_usertitle(user.title)

...so maybe I pooched your usertitle when I edited your account somehow. I touched it again and saved the changes. Try again?
Gotcha. Let me try again.

EDIT 1: It worked! I can use my old password again. Thanks!

EDIT 2: I also tested logging out than logging back in; still works. Thanks again!

are you logging in as HolyPaladin or HolyPaladin471974 (or whatever number it was before I changed it)?

When do you get an error page?

I'm logging in as HolyPaladin now. I started getting the error when I used my old password with my changed username. Might that have something to do with the error?

RMN v4.3 Bugs

Hello.

I'm having trouble with my password. I tried to sign in one day with my correct password, but I had to reset it because it wouldn't work for some reason. From then on, I have had to use the random password given to me from the site because the Change Password function doesn't work for me whether I use my old password or a newer one. I've cleared my cache and restarted both my broswer and my computer multiple times. Does anyone on the staff knows what's going on with the password system? The Error page says the staff might already and could be fixing the problem, but I wanted post anyway because I've had this password problem for weeks and wanted to make sure you guys knew about it just in case the Error doesn't send any notifications to you guys for my specific problem.

Drivers and XP aren't the problem, huh? Yeah, looks like you'll have to wait for WolfCoder, then. Sorry that didn't help.

I by no means consider myself a computer expert, but I'm wondering, could MarkusT be having issues due to outdated drivers?

I'm wondering this because I had problems with one of my RPG Maker games that never gave my problems on my old computer, started giving me Blue Screens of Death on my new computer after I transferred my hard drive from my old computer to the new computer. Turns out the drivers in my old computer were some how more up-to-date than the ones on my new computer even though they both computers run Windows XP.

I don't consider myself "good", I still make plenty of mistakes here and there. The results you see here are motivated mostly because I feel Enterbrain isn't putting good craftsmanship into their latest engines. It's understandable- they can sell it at an outrageous price and get away with it. My motivation obviously isn't money, I just want to do a job I promised the community long ago, and to do it right.

I understand where you're coming from; it's just that posts like these are usually a sign of a great craftsman. In a way, it's kind of like when people call firefighters heroes: the great majority of them don't recognize themselves as heroes, they usually just say they were a person doing their job. It's the same thing here: you don't consider yourself good, you recognize your own mistakes, you understand were others are coming from, and whether you're paid or not, you still give the things you promised the best craftsmanship possible.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is this: thanks for being one of those humble, but proud-of-their-work craftsman you rarely see nowadays; keep up the great work.

I think all of you are being ridiculous, I didn't think a simple text file would turn into some deep psychological exploration.
I don't mind be called ridiculous because isn't that what the internet's all about: simple things unexpectedly spawning copious amounts of odd, yet interesting discussion?

What can i say.. i'm a moron.. i don't get stuff.. and it seems my questions make no sense.. i'm just asking if i have to be online as in internet.. connected.. so forth.. do things with RPG 20XX.

No need to be too hard on yourself. It's more due to a medical condition I have that makes it hard for me to speak out my thoughts coherently that I therefore don't take for granted the ability to be understood. Moreover, due to this personal history, I have more practice understanding the underlying speaking tone of written language (such an understanding helps me to personally plan out how I'll say things out loud). Due to this understanding, I was able to decode that in your initial post you were writing like a person would talk and therefore certain lines that you typed go with certain different topics you were addressing.

Anyway, for this new question you're asking, I don't think WolfCoder would want to make an internet connection necessary to do things in RPG 20XX. I say this because having an internet connection be a requirement would drastically slow down RPG 20XX, and from what I tell by reading a lot of WolfCoder's updates for RPG 20XX, any programmer worth their salt should always make a program so correctly and so efficiently that their program is always lightning fast, has no lag, YET is incredible stable. AND, if the program doesn't fulfill those three criteria, it should be rewritten until it does.

From reading the document WolfCoder linked to, I believe this is supposed to be line 3: <Description of Engine>.

If I'm reading your initial post correctly, I don't think you were asking if you can write instructions in the description of engine, rather what you saying that instructions or, in other words, scripting, have basically been rolled into being a separate engine. Did get that correctly, MarkusT; that basically your post should read like this:

author=MarkusT
Now that's what I'm talking about! Awesome sauce!

Okay so.. you can write you own.. instructions or something? To do some things differently? Similar to a plug in? I get the impression that "engines" will basically replace scripting that other makers have now days.(i could be way off base on that thought though)

instead of reading each line of your post separately?

@WolfCoder: I noticed a typo in the <Description of Engine> portion of the Select Engine window; the word: 'of' is missing between the words: 'most' and 'your'. So, without the typo (and bolding to indicate adding of the missing word), the description should read something like: This engine will work for most of your RPG making needs in hobby projects. It uses FMOD-Ex for a sound API...

Also, this is really totally your call if you want to change this next suggestion, but might I suggest changing all instances of the base word 'licence' to 'license'?

I'm only asking for this to be change to enhance readability because even as a person born in the US who understands that the difference between 'licence' and 'license' is the same as the difference between 'color' and 'colour', 'licence' always looks like a typo. And, since understanding the license of RPG 20XX is important to protecting you and the users of your engine, it would probably be good for US born RPG 20XX users not to have use dictionary<dot>com to make sure 'licence' isn't a typo before they read the license. Basically, because the likely legal problems for your engine will pop up in US courts, it'd be good if US born RPG 20XX users don't skip reading your engine's license just because they think 'licence' is a typo.
