Voice Actors/Actoress Request

It's time for my first update!

I'm proud to say the game's story is COMPLETE, FROM START TO FINISH. Moreover, the outline in detail is 1/3 done.
There were some very difficult times. I honestly didn't think I'd make it past this stage. But here I am!

That is one huge flipping labyrinth.

You're right. Probably TOO big for the first half of the game though! (which it was)

Post your Music

@TheRexion It has a nice tense feel to it. I like the fact that you used a 6/8 count. Most people stuck with common time and as a musician that can be kinda boring! :P

I notice that you tend to stick with the same few chords over and over in this song. Usually that gets redundant real fast, but here, you made it work pretty well. Great stuff!

@CashmereCat I never knew you made music! I like this. The fast strings remind me of Kirby somehow. The melody itself reminds me o the Good Yoshi's Island.

I work closely with a colleague and good friend of mine on a game. He asked me to be the musician and I accepted. Gradually he kept asking more and more of me. Finally, he asked me to write a theme for what I think is the most beautiful town in the game.

The song itself was inspired by the hypnotic, soothing, rolling motion of my Lava Lamp. Yup.
This is "Oer the 'Shores' of Heimdal"

I'm a total nervous wreck and I need emotional support.

A while back I went on hiatus from making my first game do to family drama and then I got sick so its been a while since I've done anything. I want to get back to making my game but my creative process is completely blocked and I can't conjure up more to my story or think up good map designs. I'm getting really upset about it as I have a lot riding on doing this but I've learned I prefer designing ideas than actually putting them to work manually. I have many great ideas for videogames but they'll never see the light of day if I can't even finish this simple little one I've started on.

I've been there more times than you can shake a stick at. Trust me when I say that more often than not, the key to solving those blocks is not only a good night's rest, but a STEADY sleep/wake cycle.
Also take this in mind: the creative process is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.

RPG cliches

Number 23. It drives me CRAZY. Why can't the main villain be his little sister? Or a hostage be the older brother? Just sayin'! He doesn't have to be weak, he could be well built and good-looking even! Just, overpowered by the crazy-strong villains.

Looking for tips to make a horror game that doesn't suck

Find DIFFERENT ways to scare your players. They don't always have to be JUMPscares. For example, in a title I'm working on, one of the scarier moments is when a skull pops out from the cieling from nowhere, making a loud crashing sound, and when the shadows move in a dark room.

A good horror RPGmaker game should have a good story. Not just try to scare the chonies off your players. Throw in some funny and/or lighthearted moments to make the player feel at ease. This is a good tool to throw them off guard when you do decide to scare them again.
I like the screenshots!
Also, recoloring the RTP as one poster already mentioned is an easy but effective thing to do. :)

Just my two cents.

On a Redemption Mission

Thank you for the kind words, Liberty. It was a RM game called Princess of Peril. The "room full of guards" is what people remember, *chuckle*

To be fair though, I'm glad I did it. I learned in one month FROM MYSELF than I'd ever hope to learn in a year. Not to mention the musings of whatever reviewers.

That doesn't sound like a complete flop. If I got a lifelong friend for every game I completed, I'd have like 25 friends by now!

Welcome to RMN! Enjoy your stay!
Thank you! I suppose you're right, hm? Out of all the great musicians out there, he even chose me to compose his OST for his (rather large) game. :)

Name change! Welcome Iron Croc Oceaniqo.
Thank you!

Oh, it's Iron Croc! I was wondering who's that Oceaniqo I was following on Twitter. Welcome! I love your music.
I'm so glad! That means a TON to me! Music, next to my life, is one of the most important things to me! Here, a link to my OST, formally completed. :)

Yeah, making games in a month can be tricky! Though, there's after-event development, and if nothing else, there's always next game!

Which brings me to: Welcome to RMN! Share your creativity with us!

Thank you! In time, I plan to do just that.

On a Redemption Mission

I... am Oceaniqo. (Formerly known as Iron Croc)

I'm a guy who loves music, the ocean, video games, and life.
I once played in an all-volunteer wind orchestra. :) Not one of us is professional. Except for the trumpeter.
I'm a man of few words, but when I do speak, I try to make people happy whenever I can. :) Now, why am I here?

I'm here because of the IGMC 2014. I did the unthinkable: I made a game-breaking-bug free GAME from start to finish in only a month!
The accomplishment itself was an undertaking few can say they accomplished.
The game itself was a complete flop, garnering three fans and a lifelong friend. I wouldn't have done it any other way.

BUT! I knew I could do better. So I set out on making this game into the best thing I possibly could. Then life happened and I had took a huge hiatus.
This is my third day back, things are very rocky, very shaky, and I've lost my way quite a bit. I hope to regain the knowledge I lost and then some.

I hope to better myself, create games I know that I'll enjoy, and that others will too. I'd even like to garner a little crowd! This mission will be difficult, but in the end I will succed.

Thanks for reading. Peace. :)

Princess of Peril (ARCHIVE)

For any new readers: This game is officially back in development, and is now called "Tale of the Cursed Lantern". Bigger. Better. Faster. Stronger. !!!

The old Princess of Peril was literally torn apart by critics and friends alike. I salvaged what I could, then started from the ground up on creating an almost entirely new adventure based around that lantern...

I'm excited. Whoo! More media to come soon.
