The Final Fantasy XIII topic

This wasn't forced AT ALL. Especially the last bit, the monologue about Lightning doing her thing? Now I'm sure Leona Lewis likes FF XIII as much as I like her nauseatingly cheesy songs in it. I mean, the japanese theme song was a bit annoying, but this? Ugh! And I probably won't be able to chose between the two since adding the damn japanese audio to the blu-ray was too much of a hassle it seems...
And why is it always an Xbox360 controller? It's just not fair! :D

Valthirian Arc : Daybreak

Am i dumb or there is absolutely no way to actuall download this and play in full screen so that my eyes won't die in the process of playing? :D Nice game though, I'm having fun with it.

What Kurt Vonnegut Can Tell You About Game Design

There is also the question of quantity. Getting in one fight or a hundred might be fun, but after that, it's not so entertaining anymore, even if it's a great battle system.
It's actually a very hard thing to make a dungeon or some other part of the game where you get into fights long enough for the player to feel that he/she is challanged and is achiving something, WHILE still enjoying her/him-selves. Depending on how fun the battles are, this can be sort or long, but obviously, people are different, so the developer has to find the length (or amount) which is optimal for the most players, and accaptable for the rest, or, like mentioned above me, implement an option to short down (or skip) the fights. This, on the other hand can lead to some people skiping fights and then complaining about the game being too short, or unchallanging...what is lame, but nevertheless, that's how it is.

On the other hand, I disagree with the statment that indie game developers who offer their games for free shoul especially consider what is written in the article. While every game developer (or story writer for that matter) should take these advices to heart, non-commercial games actually have a little more freedom in this area, since the developers usually don't expect to gain too much (apart from experience) from their projects. It's nice to have the public opinion in favor of the game, sure, but since the developer is not depending on it, (for livelihood at least) it might not be his/her first priority.
Then again, it's kinda pointless to develop a game that no one likes...

Oh and if you feel like writing about the rest of the 8 rules, please do! This was an interesting article.
(And sorry if my writing style seems like that of a stuck up idiot. English is actually not my native language and I can't use it as freely as I might want to.)

Day 6th

Sure thing! I'm looking forward to this.
Were you able to get voice actors? Not that it's especially important, I'm just curious.

Ah, I see, thanks. SE seems to be a little weak when it comes to fast reactions to potential PR disasters. They've had such issues before, but never with the teasers and such...those were very professional.
Well nevermind, only a few days away now...

I'm not one to watch the first 40minutes of a game that comes out in just a weeks time. Kinda ruins it really.

Well...the games is 60 hours long if I remember correctly, so what's 40 minutes (of course, the first steps are very important, but nevertheless, you usually won't fing out anything too important in a FF's first hour)? I only watched the first 10 minutes by the way, because I was rather interested in the paradigm shift battle system (and there is a tutorial for that in there...). It's interesting, but...well let's hope it gets even more interesting later on.

these are screenshots from a PC running it

PC running Xbox360? I never knew there was an Xbox360 emulator...and I thought it was nigh impossible to make any X360 game run at this speed on a PC, especially with an emulator in it's early development and with little optimalization. It's not like I don't beleive you, but where did you hear this?

Off:
(delete this if it's venturing too deep into the dark side...sorry!)
By the way, I'm amazed yet again. It's not even out and there is alredy a supposedly working release of the game. As far as I know, it was didn't work after all and so it was nuked. It seems it's becoming harder and harder for the people of the "scene" to hack every game before release. I wonder though if this is truly because the DRM, or something else...

The voice acting is fine indeed, but...for some reason, it seems...less visually stunning to me than what I expected. Maybe it's the low resolution, but I'm pretty sure, that the pink haired girl's (Vanille was her name I think) armband actually looked rather...boxy. Okay, maybe I'm a bit too critical...
Still, I hope the PS3 version really is better looking...

Neunzehn

Looks great! Though it kind of flat. Only a littlebit.
Anyway good luck with the IRL stuff, hope it'll be fine. It might also help against burnout...take your mind off the tileset making and whatnot.
Anyway, you are right if you take it slowly, I'm sure people will understand. Also, when will you release a demo? Ahem...So! I think it will be a great game, and so waiting for it a bit longer to save you from burnout and the project from being canceled is a bargain, actually.

Mass Effect 2

And if you want to cheat a bit, then you can read what you must do to get a "perfect" ending:
http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Mass_Effect_2_Guide#Suicide_Mission
Mass Effect 2 wiki is a very imperessive database and has a very accurate game guide of both ME 1 and 2. Far better then the "official prima guidebook" which simply forgets to tell you how to keep your team alive.
