Great game with a real good story , i was just wondering where to get the book of monsters couldn't find it at all

I've been playing and i was wondering what i should do after finding the rusty keys and being chased by that girl zombie in the other room

Whenever i try to play after melrose leaves her room and while she's talking to suzetta, the game is interrupted and a window says: script 'yanfy messages' line 938: no methoderror occured. Undefined method 'upcase' for nil:Nilclass. What am i supposed to do?
