It depends on the how the player is moving, really. I can see where it could go wrong, but there could be other spots where it could go right.

I honestly don't see a problem with making a scene go faster. What if the player is in a hurry to finish a scene for reasons such as speed runs, or multiple playthroughs, and doesn't want a character taking a while to move?
