Constructing a Setting

Because with more history and more information about your setting in general you can add more game play elements to it. Maybe more side-quests, mini-games. I also never stated history would remove repetitiveness, I stated that IMO by adding more areas in the game or even more worlds that the player will find more extra fun from the main quests by just exploring these areas that he would of skipped if he had just followed the story. Also you can use this for cities also, you just minimize it a bit. A city still has a instinct geography, a government(or maybe no government if it's like that), history unless that history is supposed to be unknown and can even have extra areas. Also I know it's more of a game play concern but it can be helped through back story also.

A Wii Rant

I know the Wii console system hasn't had the greatest run but games are coming out that will change that. MadWorld is one of them, you call them AAA, your entire rant I think is flawed and you curse out us to improve that point. Also I did enjoy Wii Music, i thought they had an interesting concept and yes, I am a hardcore gamer and no i won't kill myself. I enjoyed it, especially with my friends. The track list not superb but it had a Nintendo feel to it. Also I am looking forward to No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. Which I thought was one of the best Wii games out there. MadWorld is awesome. Some ports are awesome to as well. I enjoyed House of the Dead 2 and 3: The Return. Im not saying this is teh best year for the Wii but man cut it some major slack. Im sure when Nintendo was making the Wii they were thinking of the gamer crowds they had. But they also wanted to expand, I mean it's finally drawing near to a day and age, were my mom can play a game and have fun.

Missiongarde Worldbuilding -- countries for sale!

Prolouge
The empires of Fashri and Missiongarde are at total war with one another. The war has been going on for the three years, and has suffered savage tolls on each side especially since of the Monster Doctrine has allowed for rabid monsters to be used. The war however is at a stalemate and does not seem to be stopping anytime soon. Fashri's attempt to send the emperor's own daughter has also failed. With the capture of the daughter of the emperor. He finally proposed peace, the King however only would agree if he allowed him to marry his daughter. Facing the threat of destruction on his shoulders he agreed. All was settled into peace as troops retreated and an alliance was formed.

Chapter I: Death of a King
The untimely death of the King has shaken many. However due to this, his final will is read out towards the world. With the Royal Marines reading personal copies for them from the king himself due to his death. It is there our party finds themselves, part of the Royal Marine sub division of secret troops. The marines understand their mission, then the final part of the will is read out. "For my nation, I call upon this final wish. For my wife to be restrained, my court members arrested, and the kingdom of Fashri destroyed for their successful attempt in conspiracy for my head." Marines around the kingdom seize the crowds and the court members, arresting them as well as capturing the queen. As the Royal Marines, you are to defeat the revolts and secure the kingdom.

Chapter II: Revolution of Fashri
While the will reaches Fashri and is read out at the same time, revolutionaries attempt a cout de' tat on Fashri. Revealing that the King had been leaking information all along. Fashri is surprised by it's internal strife and it's main army mobilized. The party is sent there to aid the revolutionaries. However due to the major commotion, the Peruvo Empire attempts to attack Missiongarde as the revolution is almost complete. The Royal Marines could not control the crowds without a leader and Missiongarde is occupied by the Peruvo Empire. Hearing this, the party are now wanted man and the King is proclaimed by a criminal. The revolution has failed due to this, and the Fashri army rallies back.

Chapter III: Wandering Without a Cause
Now on the run, the party attempts to flee to Camdonia were they go to set up a new life. After crossing many obstacles they arrive to see Peruvo troops already occupying Camdonia. In a secret route, they are able to visit the ruler of Camdonia who cannot stop this. The ruler's adviser tells them that if they stay in Camdonia they will surely be caught and hung for treason. They flee into the swamp area were the meet an old wizard named " Amadul Arumshad" who was an old advisor to the King of Missiongarde long ago. He tells them, that the sword has other properties to it, that they could alter the flow of time if they find the sword. But that the sword could only be destroyed by it's counterpart.

Chapter IV: The Sword of Damagon
The party are told to find the sword and perhaps make all well, is to find Daran Burdiham who is imprisoned. This party then must trek back to Missiongarde and find Telmultua Tower where Daran is being held. When the party arrives they are forced to battle towards the top were they must defeat the guardian after defeating the guardian. Daran tells them that the sword is in the catacombs under the city of Missiongarde.

Chapter V: Give Up the Ghost
The party ventures deep into the catacombs in hiding to find the sword and revert the world to it's original peace. However troops have followed them and the mighty bounty hunter guild has been hired to find the party. After venturing deep into the catacombs, they are able to find the sword. However they are stopped and blocked by the bounty hunter's guild. After defeating their leader, he makes a grab for the sword and touches it as the party grabs it. The sword releases it's magic and sends them spiraling into the time stream. The bounty hunter is able to grab the sword and the party members are spiraled into the past.

Chapter VI: Missiongarde?
The bounty hunter was sent three years earlier into the past than the party members. With the unbeatable sword still in his possession, he was able to take over the Fashri Empire and defeat Missiongarde in the war. Contradicting history before that, the queen never was married to the King who was executed for his crimes after losing the war. They are suddenly a band of nobodies, no history at all within this new territory. They think that the sword must have done this, after checking the dates they were able to realize something. Since Fashri won the war, the King never hired Daran to construct the sword and the leader of the bounty hunter never knew about Daran. So Daran still had his hands intact and still smithing, meaning he still had the material and the ability to reconstruct a sword like that. The wizard's words make sense as they head off to Daran.

Chapter VII: A New Sword
The party members go to Daran who they attempt to persuade to make the counterpart to the other sword. He will not as he needs a light crystal from the caverns of light. A dangerous territory. They go with Daran to the light cavern and fight to get the crystal after defeating countless enemies they get the light crystal. Daran is able to smith a sword to counter Damagon. To bless the sword and give it the great powers, the party must take it to the temple of the Gods were it msut be blessed. They must defeat the three tests before having it blessed by the Gods. The sword is finally restored. Daran is impressed and vows to construct great weapons for each of them. You can now have additional side quests to get the best weapons.

Chapter VIII: The Final Fight with Destiny
The party members enter Fashri with the sword, the entire Kingdom has been influenced by the Sword of Damagon and has placed a dark energy over the Kingdom. Bearing the crests of Missiongarde they appear towards the civilians which causes them to rally against the tyrants of Fashri. As the war horns sound, the party enters the main castle were the evil tyrant now called whatever you want to name him awaits with his sword. After going through almost every boss you've ever faced before all final fantasy esque, you arrive in the main throne room were he awaits. First he battles your party with his sword after being defeated, he sees how you have grown to even match his own strength with the sword. Seeing his struggle, the tyrant calls upon Damagon to strengthen him. Which he transforms into a dark knight sort of boss, which you must face him again. After defeating him a second time, he will become extremely agitated and plunge the sword in himself which transforms him into a giant monster. After getting his HP down to 0, the party raises the sword and goes for the kill. It pierces through the sword of Damagon and into the tyrant. The monster dissolves into the darkness as it's destroyed and the sword of Damagon shatters.

Chapter IX: The New Future
After destroying the darkness, Fashri is freed from it's dark influence. However the sword of light is breaking due to it's use against the sword of Damagon. Calling upon it for one last wish, they wish for the future to be set right as well as the past. The sword shatters into a bright and dazzling light, that sends the party back into the time stream into a new dimension were all is well. The party sees how three dimensions have been created due to this, the original in which Missiongarde has survived along with Fashri known as the beginning game dimension. One which the future is slowly rebuilding itself after the evil sword is destroyed, the past dimension and a new one. Which take place before the war with Fashri, they see they have been given another chance to make things right. With this in the mind the part heads to Missiongarde to start their mission.

End

This is my take on the plot, it bears some resemblance to Maia's plot except it focuses more on the King than the queen and on Missiongarde and Fashri the nations itself. As well as the Sword of Damagon.

Here's my take on this game in a short paragraph.

Missongarde
The nation of Missiongarde has stood for longer than anyone could remember. Standing before countless challenges brought by great empires and savage wars. Tensions however are running high. Missiongarde long before settled with an alliance of Fashri to stop the growing tensions of war however, the empire of Fashri has suffered from internal strife and a revolution has been started. Fashri calls upon Missiongarde to send troops to help them. Due to their alliance. However, Missiongarde has always supported freedom and sends a group of adventurers to Fashri in disguise. Their secret mission are to destroy the revolution from the inside and persuade the members of the revolution to stop to avoid much unneeded deaths before the troops arrive at a steady pace. Allowing Missiongarde to help end the revolution yet discard the needed death toll. So our adventures attempt to do so. On the journey whoever they learn the true nature of Fashri's government and must choose whether to be apart of the revolution or destroy it.
