Anyone know where I can get some monster sprites for VX Ace? Not for battles, but for on the map. I don't need or even want battle sprites, just the map ones.

The Journey

This has to be one of the best games I've played in a long time. The Old Man was such a bro...

Check: Chapter One Review

Ha, I don't need anything just for reviewing the game lol. Just keep working on Chapter two and make it as good as you can. Maybe take a look at my game when I finally put it up.

I think that you might want to go back and at least fix the obvious errors like the pub though. Maybe finish chapter two while you still got the motivation, then update chapter one. I honestly didn't feel to motivated to play once I saw that pub lol, but luckily I did.

Go for it, its why we're here.

Hm, I never tried using branches like that... try remaking the event like this. It's VX Ace but the setup is basically the same thing:

In this image I have no condition on for the event on page 1 to happen, meaning it will automatically take place when activated. I then have a few random actions listed where you would put yours at. At the end is an action to turn on a switch.

(If you need page one to have a condition, it should still work anyway)

The second image here is page 2 of the event. The condition for it is that the switch that was just turned on has to be on. There are no actions listed, so nothing happens even if the blank event is activated somehow.

I think I see what you were trying to do, but try it this way and see if it works.

Which version of RPG Maker are you using? I'm not sure how different the versions are but this should generally be how its done in each of them:

At the end of your event, add in a command to activate a switch. Pick any switch number you like and give it a random name you'll be able to identify (mine are usually like "door_opened," "monster_dead," "Bob_joined," etc). Then add a second page to the event and give it the condition that the switch you made has to be on. This way, the first page of the event activates the switch at the end, then after that the second page of the event will always be active (unless you mess with the switch later) which means that the original set of actions won't happen.

If you already know this and did it that way, then you'll need to be a bit more specific with what the problem is and how you set everything up. Screenshots of your event pages might help too. Hope that helps.

Berserk: Golden Age Arc I Tech Demo

Nice, I love Berserk. What's the gameplay for this going to be like?

Item naming conventions

I prefer to give weapons more memorable names. Sure, an "iron sword" will slip through every now and then because its unavoidable in a lot of cases, but for the most part my weapons have names like "100-Killer" and "Falclaymore." For the descriptions, I try to give a bit of an "artistic" description that also implies the weapon's abilities. For example, the Falclaymore:

"Purified demon sword. Its powers return sometimes,
granting a higher critical chance."

Some people may prefer bland names and descriptions like "Fire Sword +3," but I think items can be a lot more interesting and unique when you give them special names and descriptions. Of course, for that to work you also can't have a billion weapons in your game, but that's not really a problem with the way I'm designing mine.

Can anyone please explain how to do a side view battle system

I've never used a side view battle system before so I can't offer any experience with it. However, a quick google search brought up a few systems you can use:

I haven't bothered to look at the code for these, but just by the screenshots the third one looks a bit too complicated for you since you're still new. Just posting it for reference. The others also don't seem to require any special battle sprites or animations or anything. I'd suggest installing one of the first two and learning to use those. Good luck with everything. If you really need some more help with it, I'll take a look at the script you decide to use and see if I can help out more.

Genesis Review

I pretty much agree with all of this. I thought about doing a review, but its only a demo up so far so I decided against it. I didn't complete it yet, but it may have "crashed" because you simply beat the demo. I believe it was supposed to end after the first boss or something. Hopefully that was the issue and it wasn't an actual bug.
