OTOKONOKO'S PROFILE

I am an old, old, OLD salt with an impressive record of failed projects and assorted non-game-related dramas.

However, I do usually mean the best with my criticisms.

Yup, that's about it for now.

RMN Mafia!

Is there a time limit for how long it takes before automatically ending the day phase? Days that don't end generally really suck.

I was thinking approximately 3 days to a week, depending on the level of activity.

EDIT: I'm assuming that if this is satisfactory, you will be taking up the last spot?

RMN Mafia!

That's 4. Come on guys, it'll be FUN!

RMN Mafia!

I'd like to think my efforts helped in that victory. 8)

RMN Mafia!

You may have heard of a game called Mafia before. In fact, you may have even played it before. For those who haven't, Mafia is a game that pits an uninformed majority (the town) against an informed minority (the mafia, also known as "scum"). I've had great fun playing the game on other forums, and want to see how well it'll work here.

Here's the basics:

1) The game starts with a Day Phase. During this phase, all currently alive players will be able to post in this thread, discussing who they wish to vote to lynch (remove from the game).

2) Once a majority has been reached, the person selected is lynched and their role is revealed. This ends the Day Phase and begins the Night Phase.

3) During this phase, any player with night actions may submit their action privately to the game moderator (in this case, myself). The Mafia also chooses which member of the town to kill in the same fashion. Once all night actions are resolved, anybody who is killed during the night has their role revealed to the town, beginning the next Day phase. Nobody may talk in the thread during the Night Phase.

4) Play continues until either the Town eliminates all Mafia members (town victory), or the Mafia holds the majority of the day's votes (Mafia victory).

For this first attempt, we'll be using a very common setup called PieC9. In PieC9, there will be 7 total players, assigned roles as follows:

- 3 Vanilla Town. These players have no night powers, but may cast a vote during the day phase. They win when the Mafia are eliminated.

- 1 Doctor. Each night, the Doctor submits the name of one player in the game to protect. Any person protected by the Doctor is immune to being killed by the Mafia for that night. The Doctor wins with the Town when the Mafia are eliminated.

- 1 Cop. Each night, the Cop may investigate one still-living person to determine their alignment. This makes the Cop a very dangerous role for the Mafia, as a confirmed Mafia is most likely a dead Mafia.

- 1 Mafia Goon. This player is part of the Mafia, but otherwise has no special power apart from voting during the Day Phase. Wins when the Mafia controls the vote.

- 1 Mafia Roleblocker. This player is part of the Mafia, and may choose one player per night to roleblock, nullifying any night action the target may have had. Wins when the Mafia controls the vote.

OH. One last thing I almost forgot. The Mafia are the only people allowed to talk amongst themselves OUTSIDE OF THE THREAD about the game in progress. This is mostly by the honor system.

So if you're interested, or if you have any questions that aren't answered by the above overview, make a post here and we'll get this game rolling!

township more like sinkingship

Agreed. It was annoying even in Breath of Fire II. The means to get it, and what it does for you.

You have your own town already without it flying around the world, which you have teleport spells for, anyway, and you have to beat a tough boss without hitting some OLD MAN even once, and, to top it off, the township takes the place of Ryu guarding the entrance to Infinity. YES.

An entire town blocks the monsters from escaping, but the poor citizens of Dologany! What of them? I have probably offended Jakester now, so I'll be quiet.

The Real Men Network is just that fun! It's almost summer/winter holidays, anyway.

Suddenly, VideoWizard heard a rushing sound from overhead. Perplexed, he asked the nearest forumgoer what it may have been, and they replied:

"That was the joke. It was flying over your head."

EDIT: I apparently have managed to make 711 posts on SA since I registered there in September of '07. I remember approximately 100 of those posts.

Huh.

What are you thinking about right now?

So, remember when I said I might do a Keyboard Cat video of Tonfa's FF7 NENENI run finale?

I wasn't joking.

I'm back, without a vengeance.

Actually, it was usually ME doing the inane banning on IRC, wasn't it?

Welcome back. Now get on IRC so I can ban you again have somebody to talk to.

Apparently everyone is thinking about silly internet videos.

And I watched every one.

And I was dissapointed when keyboard cat did not appear to play Sephiroth off.

Goddammit, don't make me install Premiere just to do that, because I swear to God I will.

Additionally, PA released a preview of the cover of their upcoming hardcover anniversary book:

I don't know why, but I found this ABSOLUTELY hilarious.

What are you thinking about right now?

I'm thinking "what the hell was this guy thinking?!".

I'm also thinking "where the hell did the keyboard cat come from, and why is it suddenly popular to the point where I've seen Wil Wheaton and Kevin Pereira make reference to it?"
