Alcarys Complex has been Greenlit!

Thanks!

I'm worried the text of the article would literally be "I let the page sit for six months and didn't go to it because it gave me panic attacks every time I thought about doing anything with it"

Seriously, though, I kind of want to write something about the work I've done maintaining the game in an article that would fold in Greenlight, the bundles, the updates, a really in-depth look at the ins and outs of Kickstarter backer delivery, etc, if only because I need to get a few things off my chest. So your prodding is appreciated 8)

Yep, built-in transitions will be pretty easy to do this way.

When a mobile device has an event happen that takes the focus away from the running app, the Game Maker Studio runner is automatically halted, forcing the runner to stop all processes anyway.

But you could definitely fire a SYSTEM_PAUSE event when the app loses focus, and when the game comes back to the foreground, it'll be paused. This will probably be default behavior for gmRPG on mobile.

Have you seen the RPG toolkit that's on the marketplace for the 'Early Access' version? I haven't looked at it in any depth, so it might be something very different from this project. Also it's a paid add-on. In any case, I'm definitely supportive of more GM tools!

I haven't had the chance to dig into that, since it's a paid extension. From the looks of it, I'd say if that's the kind of RPG you're trying to make (top-down Zelda-like), then by all means, go right ahead. It still requires you to know GML in order to do anything with it - if you don't, writing your own stuff that modifies or extends the code you have is going to be a major pain.

So I'd say that gmRPG is a little different because one of the aims with this project is to bridge the gap between RM-style eventing and GML script. I think what could make this project powerful for people who don't know how to code is to be able to do something in the IDE and then look in the .gmx to see how that code was generated.

But there are suddenly more Game Maker RPG tools where there were very few before, and that's a big plus in my eyes!

Capstone Complete

I haven't really been able to work on this; I took a contract programming job in February and so between that and school, I don't have enough time to work on this at the moment. I've put it on hiatus and will probably approach it again sometime this summer, because it's something I've been wanting to do for a while, but it's not something that pays the bills, unfortunately.

Thanks for remembering I exist! I'll definitely post again when I start making progress. 8)

it's really slash-and-burn up at YoYo headquarters lately. wish they'd take the same kind of attitude with Master Collection sometimes.

Thanks! I'll need it ._.

If you have a valid key, it's definitely licensed. Contact the helpdesk and they should be able to help you out. There have been instances where the licensing will revert back to free (I've had this happen to me before).

Edit: I can definitely confirm this works, because I just watched it work on 1.2.1220 on a fresh install. If you're having trouble, the helpdesk should be able to help you out, not only with successful licensing, but with getting your 'None' name changed to whatever you prefer.

No problem. I figured that's how it was going to work, but I wasn't really sure.
