So Sealed Is Your Fate

So then... Time for you to enlighten me.

A captivating render of the Queen of Shadows. The nameless leader of the Shadow Pixies and mother of Mad E. Lin is by all extents, a calm and reserved powerhouse of shadow energy. She is without peer, the strongest non-glitched mortal magician in the universe. Having studied and refined magic over 400 billion years. Yet despite all of her power and ability, she is terrified of death, both in regards to herself and her people.

I also streamed this entire thing, so I have a Speed Draw to show for it.

Simian Speed Draw #150 ~So Sealed Is Your Fate

RPG Maker and depression.

I don't think this program has caused me any stress, and by this point I think I would know by now if it did.

The community attached to any engine however, very much can! The amount of false allegations people will try to use in order to defame and deflower artists and designers more talented than they are can be a great source of frustration. At least in my case I've only gotten two and the first while once a big name in the community (and I cannot iterate to you how meaningless a position like that actually is) was laughably easy to disprove because I keep receipts and have had their name in my game's credits from day one. (the claim was a plagiarism one, the typical favorite of the community's "elite" users, so most people don't take said claims seriously without decent evidence.) and then this new one where someone assumed that because I used an artists sketch composition as a basic reference, that I was plagiarizing... which is just like, huh!? Bruh, that's called referencing.. like are you high? Also the one making this claim is an absolute nobody who is either mad at me for something i said to them (i don't remember, I used to clapback on a lot of people and never thought much of what I said) or a jealous loser who knows they'll never match up to me and is trying to discredit me via these backhanded methods.

They're also one of the people in this community, sadly to say. I'm basically just leaning into it for the meme now because only a complete moron would buy into that bulltwang (and yes, some few have though I think a lot of people are just meming with it because the premise of anyone stealing the moon is really fuckin' funny!).

So yeah, while I doubt the program alone could cause stress, the people you might mingle with due to proximity to it are another story. Still, I do love this community in general and the bad eggs that do try to smear my name are huge cowards who will only do it in spaces where they don't think I can fight back. They know full well how it would go if they tried to make a public spectacle of the ordeal which is easy beyond any doubt to disprove. I've already smacked down on it on the discord for those who have the basic ability to read. (which is somehow not the entire population, utter delinquents!)

That said this is only my own personal experience, but I do agree with some of the others here in that there's probably something a bit more going on than simply using an engine for making games causing stress.

Glad to hear everything's back to pretty much normal here.

I've begun switching my games over to being hosted on itch.io
Time to steal half of your user name, mwehehehe~ (this is a stupid in joke, don't mind it.)

Also yeah generally speaking itch.io is really good for secure game hosting, so I definitely recommend doing that even if RMN wasn't down for weeks.

The site seems to be faster to load than before, too. It's like an upgrade from most angles!

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

Well during the site's downtime i basically fully finished the menu!

As i said in that video, the Optional Event Dossier hadn't been started on yet.

Weh-heh-heh-helll~!

What if I told you I also got it done, literally just finished today.

Since recording that video I've also fixed the equip meny to go back to the actor selection on cancel instead of back to the main menu, making it more fluid and user-friendly.

I'm currently going through the game and adding in the variables to keep track of progress. Almost done with that, too.

Then I get the FUN JOB of implementing this menu into the game wholesale, instead of presently how it is where it's isolated to a single map.

I have 400 common events alotted exclusively to optional events by the way. Yeah, I just wanted you to know that!

And over half of those slots are filled, and most of the rest are assigned future events that will be in the game's release.

Still got bunches of stuff to do but I'll probably be done fully with all my work in early july.

It lives!

Really glad these are back, the downloads thing doesn't bother me much. The memes are going to always be what I remember this forum for.

That and the dramas over pretty much nothing, especially the ones that get isolated exclusively to the discord! Those are very funny!

Warden of Eld

This is The Yamayoji, or High Court of the Dark World. The dark world in this case being the MAMIX (Matrix for Apoptosis Mitigation and Imprisonment of Xalatath) and is in charge of casting judgement upon its prisoners. Rehabilitating not mere sinners but cosmic enemies who have posed existential threats to the very fabric of space is not an easy job, but she'd not trade it for the world. She often goes by "Ashe" as it was her name back on Eden before its fall. She is employed by cosmic administration for this task.

She is a calm but cold and imposing presence. Like the judge of a supreme court, she commands both jaw-dropping authority and tranquility. Through her mirror she can see all the sins a a soul bears as well as their entire history both in life and death.

Despite her stoicism, even she, the Judge of a realm which even Hell fears- has a softer and more vulnerable side. She takes pride in those she successfully rehabilitates, and despite being quadrillions of years old, mortals can still surprise her. She also recently discovered she has a weakness for pudding far more crippling than her weakness for tea. Losing her hat also makes her feel naked.

She is mostly very fair, and judges based on the bigger picture rather than hyper-focusing on one particular point of time. She is often curt but in a way designed to help people reflect on how they might be better. Once mortal, she wishes to see them change and be better.

If only they knew... If they had seen as she had seen. Would it destroy or would it resolve them? Alas, it is not her call to make. Rulers would have to do for now.

Speed Draw!

From complete scratch! No references, no guides. Behold ye my power, and despair!

Well, okay not entirely true. I did use the reference of her character portrait, mostly just for the palette but also to check up on detailing somewhat. Didn't even tab over to it until after I'd finished the linework though, ha ha!

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

Moving onto the brochures, I've done 26 of the planned 118. So... over a fifth done?? :3

Collectible lore has always been one of my favorite things in games, and that's what brochures are for the most part. Pamphlets is more about characters.

Also gives me a chance to flex my writing muscles. This one's description goes unfathomably hard.

The Featured Game Thread

author=Liberty
The best way to get Featured Game is to get some decent reviews from people on the site (randos no-one knows are seen as a bit less trustworthy) OR win a Misao OR be part of an event (if there's a competition in the event, the winner usually gets a showcase, but if not, the better games get shown off on featured spots).

Generally, if you make a game that gets some recognition and is good quality, it'll eventually get noticed and get recommended. We... don't really look at people recommending their own games, because everyone thinks their game is cool.
Thanks for the tips!

I *know* my games are cool
Same! Honestly, if you weren't the one saying this, I probably would have been just for the meme.

everyone thinks their game is cool.
Actually, no! I think my games have a lot of flaws. But I like to receive player feedback so I can improve them and also make better games in the future.
That's a good way to be. I'm also fairly new here so I'm not expecting to suddenly pop off any time soon, and even popping off here seems like wasted effort given how utterly stagnant and barren its become.

Still, the place has more activity than rpgmakercentral did months before its fall. Or Rpgmakervxace.net as it was back in the day.
