The main advanatages are:
1) Higher resolution graphics
2) Scipting ability.
The scripting is huge since you can rewrite many of the default systems to suite your needs. With this though VX has kept many of the default event commands present in 2k3 making it less daunting than RMXP.

WIP: I think most of us will. The fact Capcom is doing this though is awesome for the shear fact that someone there remembers the NES days and that the old fogies aren't religated to sitting on the porch dreaming of the good old days.

Well, developers are spending boatloads of time making sure that the character models have perfect Eyebrow Expression MovementTM - who has time to refine gameplay after that?
Amen to that.
On another note, am I the only one who likes FFX-2 more than FFX? To me FFX invented a new genre: The On Rails RPG. I got so bored with the gameplay that I almost gave up. However, I continued and finally got some freedom with the airship and lo and behold the game became fun again. However, I became severly disappointed when I got to the last boss and realized I could have beat him with a party from 30 hours previous... What a drag... And for the record Auto-Life didn't even trigger (but I would have been more pissed off if it had). How Square managed to ruin a game with such a good battle system is beyond me.
FFX-2 on the other hand is great. The game has story but it gives you the ability to actually play the game right from the start. The combat system is fun what with the combo system and all and square managed to breath new life into the class system.
The more I play, the more I think FFX-2 was the original game and FFX was the half-baked prequel.
Five Random Thoughts About Video Games.
I have the distinct feeling that newer games are getting crappier on the whole. I recently thought I was growing old of videogames due to the large number of games I wasn't completing. So I just popped in some older games I hadn't played in ages, like some of my PSX RPGs and Deus Ex and I realized I am still a gamer, just that modern games are less and less being made for gamers. I mean I enjoyed Mass Effect, but I just couldn't shake the feeling I was playing a sequel to Deus Ex that was in fact crapper than DX:IW.

HOW TO RUN RMXP/2K3/2K ON VISTA:
1) Right click the program
2) Go to 'Properties'
3) Go to the compatability tab
4) Check the box that says "Run in Compatability Mode" (XP Service Pack 2)
5) Check the box that says "Run as administrator".
6) Run the program.
THE END
The core story was solid but the presentation was rather dry and lacking. 7/10.
All joking aside that tip is solid and should get you up in running in Vista.

Truth doesn't exist. Well maybe it does, but it's unknowable to the human mind probably. Reality is always viewed through the filter of consciousness, and subject to one's own subjective....dealies.
So yeah, happiness. Anyone who thinks they've found truth has just bought in to a more convincing illusion.
Good point. There is the whole concept of perception vs. reality thing to consider. I largely agree with Decartes on that matter in that I can only know what I perceive for myself. Outside of that there is nothing that I can accept as true. So what I accept as truth is what I perceive or understand.
But, given the choice to witness something that would change my life for the worse or not witness it but have it still occur, I would still choose to be aware of it. My awareness of it will allow me to stengthen myself for future encounters and thus have greater happiness in the future, rather than have the potential for it to affect me later. If I could be assure that occurance would never get back to me, then obviously I take the ignorance (and thus happiness). However, due to the complex way in which our world works, I don't think this sort of assurance would ever be realistic.
In my mind the ideas are very much linked and thus you can never chose one or the other without consequences.

Well here we go after about ten minutes I finally finalized my final name for my project. The Journeys End! An rpg's name should always give a player an idea of what is inside. But never read a book by the cover. RPG's always have surprises where you would never think to look. Now just to give my readers an idea of what this is all going to be about....But! I know what your thinking, if i told you how it starts and how it ends what would keep you interested. The simple answer is, you have not yet taken the journey. Now please relax get a soda and have a nice read.;D

The Journeys End!

A tale always starts where one leaves off. So as I sit here I think is this really the end of my story. Or is it the begging of something bigger than I know. Sitting in this jail rotting away, is this how I end or is this how something new starts. After today's events it's hard to make sense of anything. But for you to fully understand what I am talking about and why I am telling you this I'll just go back to how today started.
First off, my name is Ike Menace. I am an average pick-pocket I take what I need and no more. Earlier today I was getting a little hungry so I slipped on over to the town market. I was supposed to meet up with one of my long time accomplices. Her name is Kilona Avatta. Kilona is only about 14 and has been on the streets for 4 years now her parents where both killed when she was young. Not much else about that is known. I try not to push the issue. Once I had arrived I had noticed her already at work. She was crying her eyes out by a food vender making a big scene. I immediately moved in and made my move. I stood behind who looked to be the Owner of the stand and reached my hand around him into the stall. Once I felt my hand meet with two apples I swiftly pulled it back stuffed them into my bag and made my way over to Kilona, I took her hand and made pretend like I was a relative of some sort trying to calm her down, and before I knew it she was sprinting away dragging me along. As she turned the corner into a nearby alley she stopped and snatched one of the apples form my bag.
“Hey!†I said as she began to munch down my food. She giggled and rolled her eyes at me. She took a big bite out of the apple and mumbled something. I couldn't make it out because of her chewing. “Hey. Try swallowing your food. It may help.†I said with a slight laugh. She frowned and downed her food. Suddenly her expression changed.
“Ike, You where late!†She began ranting about how she had been waiting and couldn't stall any longer and the like. Usually when she gets like this I zone out and ignore it, pay attention now for this is where the day takes a turn for the worse. As she was ranting on I noticed an armored man yelling at a woman further down the alley. I gave Kilona a silent shush as I crept closer to the two. I motioned for her to hide behind some crates and I listened in.
“Hand of the necklace Wretch! You know what Lord Rein would do to you if he where here right now!†The man said holding out his hand. The woman had a shocked look on her face and started to run but the man grabbed her and flung her against a wall. “Ill never give it up!†She screeched and I noticed a strange looking medallion around her neck. That must have been what the man was after for he was looking at it. He raised his sword and I jumped into action.
“Stop it right there!†I yelled as I tossed a rock at the back of his head. I turned to Kilona and told her to leave. She shook her head and took off into the market. The man was know facing me, before I knew it my dagger was locked with his sword. He kicked me down to the dirt and grabbed the woman. He raised his sword again and I tried to stop it but was to late the blade met the woman and she fell to the ground. The pendant was lying next to her and there was a lot of blood. The man laughed as he grabbed the pendant then looked at me. “Now boy you know what happens to people who dare try and stop Lord Rein.†I tried to move but my body was frozen. The man then vanished into thin air. I crawled to the woman and she grabbed my arm. “Boy! Thank you for your bravery.†She said coughing up some blood. I held back my emotions and focused on her words. “You must get that pendant back from him. Go and see Sir Raymone at the Church. Tell him Mari sent you and that Lord Rein has the pendant. He will know what to do.†The look in her eyes became more faint and I saw her fade away, her last words where to me. They where “Promise me, promise me this please.†With those words she fell out of life into the beyond. In my mind I made that promise. But when I cam to my feet I herd a voice cry out.
“MURDER!!!†some one was yelling from the alley entrance. Before I could even react Royal Guards where approaching me from her direction. I ran the other way only to be cut off by more guards. I could do nothing but wait. I dropped my dagger and allowed my capture. That is how I ended up here in this cell rotting away. But is this the end, or is my journey just starting…..Only time will tell.

OVERVEIW
The land of Hearthania is threatend by dark forces, FOr Lord Rein of Barkarvi Island has found a way to summon and control the dark 9. The only thing that could stop there release is the pendant of hop a magical necklace crafted to seal away the evils of the nine within itself. But when the pendant falls into evil hands and with are young hero in prison, will Hearthia be saved, or will Lord Rein destroy everything in his quest for power.

Ike is a simple and kind street cat. He lives off of stolen food and never takes more then he needs. He never knew his parents and has been alone since he can remeber.

A giddy and hyper teen she hides a most terrible past. Both her parents where killed when she was only ten. She also has one brother Kendel Avatta who she has only a vauge memory of.
Mari-27-Quest Character
MAri was the holder of the pendant of truth, she was slain by Gunthor the evil knight in order for him to obtain it. Her final words in life where that ike get that pendant back.
Gunthor-32-Villian
Gunthor is a evil kinght dedicated to Lord Rein. HE will stop at nothing to obtain what Lord Rein wants.
Lord Rein-47-Arch Villian
Lord Rein the dark mage of Barvakia Tower is after the Dark Nine. He hopes to control there power to destroy all of Hearthania
Sir Raymone-38-Side Kick
Sir Albert Raymone is a retired night who is now working for the local church in Hyca. Although that was is cover for his real reason being there. Now that the pendant is stolen he must jump to action and get it back.
Kendel Avatta-18-Side Kick
Kendel is Kilona sister, his whereabouts have been unknow since the death of Kilona's mother and father.
Kyiu Turmi-19-side kick
Kyiu is a magic student that gets swept away on this journey to learn more about the nine and to make sure that this epic tale is remeberd.
Screenies look good. Servicable use of the RTP. Only suggestion I have at the moment is to shift that ladder over one tile. it's current position looks awkward.

This is where the flashback starts it begins with you the main character telling the story of what had happened up to that point.
Revised Midnight Train Ride
The editing I did here was I raised the windows and I added to other NPCs that are sleeping on the train I used the "Down" charaset to achieve this effect.
-I also updated the story a tad
Getting better. I think those hospital rooms are a bit too big. Just seems unlikely that such large rooms would be available to patients. Plus remember that it's easier to make small maps an areas look good due to the lack of detail you need to add to make it look full.
Lastly, for the NPCs in the train, edit the charsets so the chars are shifted and look like they are actually on the benches. Some of them look really odd right now.
