Most of the time was spent on the generic Metis code. Before starting, I spent a very, very long time architecting it and doing research to find the most portable solution to the problems we would face to ensure there would be few headaches with porting to other platforms. Most of the time spent on other platforms is diagnosing obscure features that just don't work the way they're supposed to.

I'm glad you said that, cause I've heard people tell me the $6k is way too much and that we should be able to do everything for under a thousand. I sometimes worry too that it might not be enough but we were really trying not to come off as unrealistic in our request. I'm sure you've seen some RM kickstarters where the developer is asking for like $25k just to prove that "story and gameplay are more important than graphics." The small scope of the game probably works in our favor for this. If we tried this with Master of the Wind, I can't even imagine the cost.

Stretch goals are a conversation we're having now, but honestly I'm pretty nervous just about meeting our regular goal. This is some nerve-wracking stuff!

There's just no winning when it comes to people like that, I found out. People who have never tried to plan a serious commercial game have no idea how much time and money goes into it, so any amount above three digits is seen as pure greed. Then you have people who have made commercial games and know how much goes into it and they'll be just as skeptical if you don't ask for as much as they think it should be.

When the Vacant Sky Awakening Kickstarter was going on, there were two very loud groups, one side arguing that it was a scam because we were asking $8000 to make a game and the other arguing that it was a scam because we were only asking $8000 to make a game.

Some people. Sheesh.

So...

If you haven't played the game yet, then let me ask; what's preventing you from doing so?

2k3 games don't run on Windows 8. As much as I've been looking forward to the game, I'll have to miss out on it. :/
