Yeah... ;_; this is my laptop's third fatal crash within the year I've owned it, so yeah. But I am REALLY into this project, and I refuse to let it just die. I 100% intend to pick it back up the very second I can do so.

You need to learn how to defend, constant attacks get you killed quickl, which I'm sure you've noticed. Learn how to counter-guard if you truly want to take things to the next level.
If you're playing as someone like Nightmare, then strategic defending is important. However, there are characters who require minimal defense because their styles themselves are so overwhelming - Kilik, for example. Although those types of characters tend to be awesome spammers, so yeah.

It's Seong-Mina. I dunno what the problem is, but I always have a really hard time against her. =\ Is Amy just a bad character to use against her?
Similar to Kilik she is very strong against new players who are still learning defense. Pay attention to her combos and block/sidestep accordingly. Particularly when she goes for a vertical attack, Amy has some of the best sidestep counterattacks around. If you've found your opponent is a bit of a spammer, once you get close it should be easy mode since Amy can spam faster than anything Seung Mina can throw out.
The thing is though, I'm not a new player. I just never defend. Like, ever. The best defense is a good offense! =D
Seriously though. I'm also good with Tira; she tends to work better for me against Seong-Mina.

Seriously. Soul Calibur 4 is infuriatingly difficult. I mean I know it's a really technical and strategic kind of game, which I like... and I play fighting games more than anything, honestly. I just hate losing. Especially when it's hard to begin with... I mean seriously. GAH.
