Thieving with events and all that stuff...?

I've been thinking about this for a few days...

Has anyone ever tried to reproduce some kind of thieving like in Neverwinter Nights and Baldurs Gate/ Icewind Dale, Arx Fatalis, Oblivion, and so on?
Basically every game has the same concepts of thieving: pickpocketing, lockpicking, stealth, etc.

I'd like to have an insight of this. The most I have done once was a stealth approach that consisted of trigger events, apropriatelly placed, to make the enemy attack you if you steped into them. To avoid it you needed to press the walk key. That way you could step on the trigger events harmlessly, but never going much close to the enemies or they'd attack you anyway (some other trigger events). Never found a way to reproduce sight-detection on enemies.

I'm trying to find this RPG game...

I didn't quite know where to put this, so move the topic if you feel it's misplaced.

So, I'm trying to find this game and I'll try to describe it as best as I can. My memories from it may be a little distorted, but I hope that some one can still help me find it. I can't remember it's name, otherwise I'd found it already.

I think it was made in RM 2k3. I'm not totally sure about it, but I'm sure it wasn't XP and could even less be VX.

The game story consisted of a little girl, living with her grand mother (I think...). At the begining she is inside her house, has to pick up her book (journal), and then meets with her grand mother that gives her some quests.

Her first quests are things like hearding a cow and buying bread or wheet or something like that, all within the tiny village she lives in.

After a few quests for her grand mother, she parts on a longer walk somewhere I can't remember but I think it was another village, and on the way there she goes through a forest (nice looking map if I can remember well), a cave or a few caves, and I remember finding a few "mages" (at least they looked like old men in robes and casted spells) on the way.
I vaguely think that there was some sort of animals to fight too. Nothing like goblins or monters so far in the game.

Now I didnt play much of it and I lost the game. But I remember some of it's features like

Hack & slash type real time combat. The little girl was into magic and could cast a few attacking spells.
The journal, that was rly a book showing up on the screen, I think it might be something else than just the journal. I think it was how the menus were made up. You'd press Escape and the book would have the menus. Such custom menus with atractive graphics, fonts and functionalities were rly neet.

hmmmpff.... can't remember anything else right now. Only that I think I downloaded it from this website's list. But I went through it all and rly couldn't find it...

I'll add posts here when and if I remember something else.

I apreciate all the help I can get cuz I want to make it a gift to some one a little special ;)
Thanks in advance
