RPGMVX : Script : More Tilesets

Hail,

Me again. I've started to experiment on RPG Maker VX, found some insane stuff, but also found some insanly retarded stuff : can't import massive tilesets.

I know the trick you can do with changing name of the files and stuff, but I don't think that it's gonna be enough tiles to make a whole RPG (not that my RPG is gonna be 30 hours, but common sense).

So here's my question : Since it cannot be changed by mortal means, is there a script to import more tilesets ?

Thanks.

Question about which RPGM to use

Thanks for answers.

I'm gonna give a 30 day try on VX, just to see. I wanted to costumize the menu system, so I'll see. I get your point that it would be almost useless to get VX just for the sake of it if I don't do anything with the scripts.

Thanks to everyone !

Question about which RPGM to use

Can't thank you enough GRS, that's exactly what I wanted to know.

If side-view system is the only thing keeping me in 2003, but I can script it in VX, then screw 2003, I'm buying VX.

Thanks alot for all your answers.

If someone disagree and there is more difference than that, feel free to answer.

Question about which RPGM to use

Thanks. I compose music myself since I'm quarter-musician (not my main task in life, but I do it alot anyway).

Gonna check out what you said. So this game is made in VX?

Question about which RPGM to use

Hi,

Skip the next two paragraph if you don't want useless introductions. First one is really useless for the question.

First of all, thanks to everyone on the forum/site. I've been lurking on the forum, and all the debates, topics, tutorials, etc. have been helping me (and I guess tons of other person) to figure out some ideas that were just random in my head. Great help, even if it was not always your goal.

Second, the matter at hand. I've been using RPM2k3 since it got out. It's my favorite because of one main feature : side-view fight. I just can't get into a character if I can't see him (which is why I wasn't using either 2k or XP). Now I'm starting a project using ripped sprites (FF6 one, not because I'm a fanboy, but because modifying those to get a serious setting is much more easier than anything else, and we all know that RPGmaker games are serious business) and fresh combat system - not in the sense of ''lookmagame'', but more in the sense of not using basic RTP or normal RPG games. Which brings me to the questions :

Knowing that it's fairly easy now to get side-view battle with VX, that VX can almost get any script of 2003 because of ruby, and that VX has tons of possibilities due to this, which maker should I use ? I've been around with 2003, but produced nothing really great with it, so the ''use what you're good at'' argument doesn't count.

Maybe I could reformulate the question to be more precise :

Knowing the almost limitless possibility of personnal scripting, what does RPM2k3 offer me that VX will never be able to ?

EDIT :

I made some correction on my spelling/phrasing/grammar. English is not my main language, so excuse this.

Thanks.
