Yes.
Everyone: Since this is the first turn, I am allowing you to PM me your orders and ask if they are possible. I'm not talking about STRATEGY, I'm just going to tell you if your moves are VALID.

Diplomacy
The games do last a while, but we can speed it up if everyone catches on and agrees. Unlike Mafia, it's vital that every player get some communication in EVERY turn, as one turn without moving can totally screw you up. And not everyone is able to get on at the same time, or even every day, so there has to be some buffer time so people can correspond.
It is okay to move between coastal territories, even between Sweden to Norway. Generally speaking, you can consider a fleet anywhere on the coast of a coastal territory. There are 3 territories that are exceptions:
- Stp (St Petersburg) has a North and South coast.
- Spa (Spain) has a North and South coast.
- Bul (Bulgaria) has a West and East coast.
You cannot crossover to the other coast with a fleet, obviously. I'd advise downloading jDip and attempting to issue an order to see if it's possible. The program simply won't let you try something that's not possible, so it's easy to tell. Of course, if you'd rather just keep asking me that's more than fine as well.
Switzerland is completely inaccessible, and only exists on the map to separate territories.
To win, you must control 18 supply centers, or all remaining players must agree to share a joint victory (which is really a last resort when everyone feels the game is completely stuck).

Actually, what's the point of waiting?
GAME STARTED! CHECK THE FIRST POST!
I'm starting regardless. You'll have 3 days to submit.
I'm sure someone has questions.

Diplomacy
Unfortunately, each player gets a specific position on the map, so there's not really room for another player unless we use a different variant... and there's only one variant with 8 players, and I've never played it. I guess I could start a reserve list in case someone drops out. Would you be willing to take over for somebody if that happens?
Diplomacy
I've written a quick (okay, maybe not so quick) tutorial:
http://thrasher.ath.cx/diplotut/
I know it looks overwhelming at first, but just READ IT IN ORDER, and ask me any questions you may have. I tried to write it in a sensible order, so each part builds on what you already know. It's the first draft and I wrote it in one day, so it's not nearly perfect.
IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED BEFORE, YOU NEED TO READ THIS, PERIOD.
(Someone please read it now, I need some feedback. If it's too complicated for people, we may have to delay the game start, so LET ME KNOW!)

Sorry guys, I was out today (Friday) and I'll probably be out tomorrow (Saturday). I'll try my best to provide a more detailed description of the game and some additional reading tomorrow at some point, then I'll get everything together on Sunday, and we'll start on Monday.
Does that work for everyone?

Diplomacy
Diplomacy is a strategic board game created by Allan B. Calhamer in 1954 and released commercially in 1959. Its main distinctions from most board wargames are its negotiation phases (players spend much of their time forming and betraying alliances with other players) and the complete absence of luck. Set in Europe just before the beginning of World War I , Diplomacy is played by seven players, each controlling the armed forces of a major European Power. Each player aims to move his or her few starting units - and defeat those of others - to win possession of a majority of strategic cities and provinces marked as "supply centers" on the map; these supply centers allow players who control them to produce more units. -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomacy_(game)

Game Information:
The turn schedule will be as follows:
Spring Movement - 3 days
Spring Retreat - 1 day (if necessary)
Fall Movement - 3 days
Fall Retreat - 1 day (if necessary)
Winter Adjustment - 1 day (if necessary, but it usually is)
Unlike Mafia, turns will not end just because everyone submits their orders. Everyone has the entire time period to submit, to allow for changing orders.
HOW TO PLAY:
Q: Wait, what? The game started? What do I do?!
While waiting for the turn to end, it is your job to PRIVATELY communicate with the other players (it's up to you who you want to talk to, but it's generally a good idea to talk to everyone), try to strike some deals about letting each other take territories, helping each other, threatening, etc. It's okay to post in the thread, but obviously anything you do will be highly suspect and should only be reserved for when you want to send a communication to everyone.
Don't just submit your moves and be done with it -- the game is completely pointless that way and you'll ruin everyone else's game as well.
Q: I don't know the actual game rules!
There are virtually no rules in the communication part of the game. However, the actual board game part is somewhat compliated.
You can read the tutorial I wrote here:
http://thrasher.ath.cx/diplotut/
Q: How do I submit my orders?
Before the deadline, just PM them to me, and say what you want to do. I'm going to assume you read my tutorial and know the four order types (move, hold, support, and convoy). Well, just form your PM like this:
- Tri holds.
- Boh moves to Sil.
- War supports Boh to Sil.
- Ion convoys Gre to Tun.
It's okay if you don't follow this exactly -- as long as your orders aren't ambiguous.
If you change your mind before the deadline comes, you can simply PM me again with your new order set. I will only use your last PM before the deadline, so make sure you include EVERY order again.
Q: I'm still confused!
Ask me a question! Here, in a PM, email, or on IRC (irc.dynastynet.org #rpgmaker.net, as Thrasher). If it's a public "how to play" question, it would be best to ask it here, as it's likely someone else is wondering the same thing.
Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the game, even when you get stabbed (and don't worry -- you will.)

Intense Flight: Componus
Thanks for the bug report! I've uploaded a fixed version. I can't confirm there aren't any other bugs, though, because this isn't my game and so bugfixing is a bit sporadic at best.
Due to the way Mythril stores savegames, you'll need to make a copy of your "Saves" folder and overwrite it when you unzip the new version. If you fail to do that, you can edit the savefiles.dat file in "Saves" and put your name on a line by itself. (For example, if your save file was "Alexei403.sav" you'd put "Alexei403" in savefiles.dat.
